Di An pays attention to employees’ lives

Realizing the importance of implementation of labor laws, Di An town has mobilized all resources to join hands in taking care of the lives of employees, especially female ones.

From realization of labor deals

Di An is now home to 2,056 enterprises with 185,860 employees having the average welfare of between VND3.5million and VND5million per capita per month plus many other allowances. So far, the town has had a total of 114 working regulations registered, 553 payrolls and 59 mass labor deals signed…Most enterprises in the town have seriously set up salary scales, payrolls as stipulated and sufficiently paid monthly salary for employees…

Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Vice-Chairwoman of provincial Labor Union presenting gifts to female employees with difficult circumstances at Dong Hung Industrial Joint Stock Company in Di An town

Regarding the realization of salary and labor deal regulations, Pham Van Bay, Vice-Chairman of Di An town’s People’s Committee said that over the past time, town-based enterprises excelled at signing labor deals with employees under the Labor Code. But, some did not implement this for all laborers, especially new ones.

The result of inspecting payrolls at town-based enterprises also showed that many employees worked for more than 3 months, but did not enjoy any allowance except salary. Or, although working regularly, many employees also only got labor deals under three months or seasonal ones. According to Mr.Bay, one of main reasons leading to the above situation was that employers avoided the payment of social and health insurance premiums for these employees. Meanwhile, employees were put at a disadvantage because not knowing labor laws and relevant issues. Some did not want to sign labor deals with employers as fearing to be bound…

Paying attention to female employees

More than 50% out of 185,869 employees in Di An town are female ones, mainly in garment and footwear industries. In the process of realizing the Labor Code, town-based enterprises have made efforts in ensuring a stable life for female employees with positions arranged in line with their ability. Apart from policies as stipulated, a number of enterprises have offered allowances to female employees when giving birth, given vocational training for them while helping them raise their management skills and working manner.

According to Hoang Ngoc Hinh, President of Dong Hung Industrial Joint Stock Company’s Trade Union, female employees fostering children less than 12 months old are entitled to have a 60-minute break per day in working time to feed the child and rest. In fact, they did not take the break, due to the company’s real demand and situation. The company has also paid overtime salary for these female employees in order to assure their rights and interests while encouraging them to strive harder in work.

As stipulated, female employees will have a 30-minute break every day during the “red light” period. This regular will greatly affect activities of enterprises with 1,000 employees and above, over 60% of whom are female. When recruiting female employees for important positions, some enterprises have also asked for them to pledge not to give birth within 2-3 years.
