After 20 years of development, Di An town’s population has grown to 471,372 people, up 490% compared to 1999. The town’s socio-economic infrastructure system has reached vigorous development. With current results, the town has sufficiently met criteria of a city under the province.
Premise for development
Together with favorable geographical conditions, Di An town’s Party, government and people have made efforts to create the local premise for socio-economic development programs.
Dao Ngoc Nu, former Secretary of the town’s Party Committee said that the town has boosted the local planning work right after being re-established. This is a logical foundation for the locality to effectively use potentialities in terms of land, workforce, resources and finance. The town has so far carried out key works; given priority to infrastructure construction, thereby creating excitement among people because of enjoying benefits from its re-establishment.
Along with the local State budget, the town has also mobilized resources from enterprises and people for infrastructure development. Dang Minh Hung, former Chairman of the town’s People’s Committee said that in the 2007-2012 period, the town’s socio-economic infrastructure investment was on sharp increase with the average level of VND350billion-VND400billion per year.
Giving priority to social welfare works
During the past 20 years, the town spent nearly VND5trillion on constructing 1,332 works. There was a sharp increase in terms of the local basic construction from VND41billion in 2000 to VND600billion in 2019.
As of 2019, the town has built 42 schools with the average capacity of 1,000-3,000 pupils each. The number of pupils herein has amounted to 53,000 pupils, increasing threefold against 1999. Leaders of the town have always attached special importance to allocating land fund for the local school construction.
Also during the period, the local people donated 3,346 hectares of land for the locality to build social welfare works. In wards, they contributed around VND5billion-VND10billion to the local annual urban rejuvenation. The town also received the annual support of VND5billion-VNd13billion from organizations and individuals to realize social welfare activities…
Towards civilized, modern city
Currently, the town’s economy reaches the annual growth of 15%-17%. The town’s economic structure is strongly shifted towards the growth of industrial manufacture, trade and services. The town ranks second among the province’s localities in State budget collection with more than VND3.84trillion in 2018, 81 times higher than 1999. The average income of the local people is VND130.8million per person per year with their spiritual and material lives improved.
The town has encouraged investors to form up housing, residential area projects, aiming to lessen the local pressure about housing. So far, the town has had a total of 74 urban and residential area projects of more than 804 hectares, contributing to increasing the average housing area of the local people to 30square meters per person, up 15 square meters against 1999.
It is known that the town has till now perfected criteria of a city in terms of the rate of green trees, water drainage-supply works…Along with key works invested by the State, the town’s socio-cultural institutions have reached vigorous development from socialization with 105 sports grounds, 296 medical facilities, 77 educational facilities at all levels, contributing to meeting the local people’s demand…
The town has also well maintained the local political security, social safety and order towards a safe and flexible locality.
