Dialogue to understand workers

In the first 10 months of 2024, provincial trade unions at all levels organized numerous dialogue sessions with trade union officials and workers. Many enterprises also held dialogues to listen to the thoughts and aspirations of their employees. These activities have fostered a closer relationship between workers and employers.

A worker raises her questions during a dialogue session with representatives of provincial departments and sectors

Doan Dinh Khanh, a representative of workers at Esquel Garment Manufacturing Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Tan Uyen city stated that since early this year, employees of the company have not only participated in dialogues organized by higher-level trade unions, but also at the workplace. Through these dialogues, both workers and business owners have expressed interest in support policies during the factory relocation process under the decision of the provincial authorities. Issues such as housing and education conditions of workers’ children have also received greater attention. "Through dialogues, workers consistently hope that the local authorities at all levels will give priority to building social housing units, rental accommodations and service facilities like schools as well as reducing tuition fees for workers’ children. These dialogues also help workers understand new policies on social insurance, health insurance and other policies for workers", Mr. Khanh shared.

Meanwhile, Pham Thi Kim Ngan, an employee of Yaxaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd., mentioned that she has participated in several dialogue sessions. In these sessions, representatives from provincial social insurance agency provided extensive communication on the benefits of receiving monthly pensions, the disadvantages of opting for a one-time social insurance payment, the benefits and value of not receiving one-time social insurance and reserving the payment time to continue participating when conditions permit.

In fact, during the first 10 months of 2024, provincial Labor Unions at all levels organized many dialogue sessions. These dialogues aimed at fostering solidarity and consensus between employers and workers, contributing to the development of harmonious, stable, and progressive labor relations within enterprises.

Periodic dialogues at workplaces, led by employers in collaboration with grassroots trade union executive boards, are essential and should be conducted every three months or at least twice a year. Experts and some trade union leaders emphasize that dialogues help trade unionists and workers better understand policies and benefits related to their rights and interests. Therefore, grassroots trade unions should regularly coordinate with directorates to organize these dialogues, promptly addressing workers' concerns and integrating reasonable suggestions, particularly those related to year-end benefits, to enhance workers’ material and spiritual lives.
