In the past 2 days, the number of Covid-19 infection cases in the community has increased to a record high. Before the complicated development of the epidemic, yesterday of May 10, Ministry of Health added a noon newsletter to announce its update on the epidemic situation. Accordingly, the number of new Covid-19 infection cases in the community has exceeded 100. The Covid-19 epidemic had new features as the virus is evolving faster and more complicatedly; and, the risk of infection nationwide is extremely high.
During the inspection of epidemic prevention and control in the southwest border provinces on May 9, the Prime Minister convened an emergency online meeting from An Giang province with the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 prevention, a number of ministries and leaders of 6 southwest border provinces. In the tasks to be done immediately, the Prime Minister asked to prepare for the assumed scenario of "30,000 infected people being treated in the whole nation" in the face of the already existing epidemic which is no longer forecast. But the priority is to completely tackle epidemics, not to incur new outbreaks. The Prime Minister asked localities to have scenarios to ensure successful elections of the National Assembly Delegation and People's Councils at all levels and the end of 2020-2021 school year effectively. In the meantime, they should focus on the realization of "dual target" by ensuring social security and stabilizing people's lives. The Prime Minister also emphasized the role of the leaders in Covid-19 prevention and control. And again, the Prime Minister urged: “No panic, no fear, stay very alert, intelligent, creative, and brave in disease prevention and control."
By such requirements, branches and localities thoroughly force their all levels and branches to absolutely focus, not being subjective, losing guard, and lacking of responsibility in the implementation of epidemic prevention and control. Heads of agencies, units and localities are responsible for developing working plans for their agencies and units in a suitable way by ensuring absolute safety without delay. If an epidemic occurs, the local leaders, agencies or units must be responsible.
Over the past years, thanks to government's drastic and effective direction and administration, the consensus and determination of both the political system and the people, Vietnam has basically controlled the epidemic and prevented it from spreading in the communities. We are in good control, but absolutely we should not be subjective. Without being active, vigilant, without coping measures, without mobilizing the combined strength of the political system, the strength of the entire population, it would be very difficult to control the epidemic. The prevention and control require compliance with the process and regulations. Therefore, each citizen must strictly implement the epidemic prevention and control and become ‘a soldier’ on the "anti-epidemic" front to be able to effectively control the epidemic in the currently new situation.
