Morning September 28th, Eastern International University (EIU) held the opening ceremony of the new academic year 2015-2016. In this new academic year, EIU welcomed 866 freshmen, increasing the total number of students by 3,818. With the mission to train a high-quality human resource serving provincial socio-economic development, EIU students are studying in an environment of international standards with advanced teaching and learning methods, training programs in accordance with business’s needs.
Studying abroad at home
In recent years, EIU has been one selection of many students in Binh Duong and other provinces, cities nationwide, because it is the first university in Vietnam to apply the form of 3 semesters/year of overseas advanced universities.
100% curriculum of EIU is accredited by Ministry of Education-Training. Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Rector of EIU said, Becamex IDC invested in modern buildings, laboratories training programs from USA, UK, Germany… in order to create an international university environment, for students to be able to study abroad at home with low tuition fees and create different values.
With training objectives for students mastering theory and practicing skillfully, from the first year, students spend 25% their leaning time on practices, internships at subsidiaries or partners of Becamex IDC.Hence, students can obtain necessary qualifications, knowledge, capabilities.

Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Rector of Eastern International University, offered President List’s scholarship 2015 to students.
Engineering students can practice at international corporations, like: VSIP, Omron, Yakult (Japan), Vina Kraft (Thailand)… Business administration students are practicing at companies, excellent students may have chances to practice in Singapore. Nursing students may take on internships at Central hospital, Cho Ray Hospital, Children Hospital, Hung Vuong Hospital, Provincial General Hospital, and Becamex IDC's International Hospital and My Phuoc Hospital.
Focusing on English training
Being trained in an international environment, capabilities of EIU students show differences. The university established English output standard of IELTS 6.0 to engineering and nursing students. Business administration students must achieve IELTS 6.0 before beginning their speciality.
According to Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc, in the globalization context, graduates that want to compete with peers must be proficient in English. Therefore, EIU has focused on English training for students. EIU established an English teaching center at their campus, organizes regularly English clubs, writing skill training labs to cultivate four English skills of students.
Exemplary students
In the 2014-2015 school year, EIU had 91 students achieving Dean's list scholarships and 34 students achieving President's list scholarships. At the present, the university has 41.36% students achieving IELTS 5.0 - 5.5; 56.85% students achieving IELTS 6.0 or above, including 15 students achieving IELTS 7.0 and 3 students achieving IELTS 7.5. Notably, Tran The Thong, an engineering student, got an IELTS score of 8.0.
In the last academic year, fist-year students won many prizes at national competitions and international competitions. Namely, 3 students got third prize at "Securities Talent" contest held by State Securities Commission in Ho Chi Minh City; 5 students won the first prize of "Start up" contest at RMIT University; 3 students won third prize of “ACM/CPC International Programming Students” contest’s online round.
Student Ninh Thi Trang, who received talent cultivating scholarship on occasion of the opening ceremony, said: “As selecting EIU, I believed that this was a right way to fulfill my target. To study and train in a good international environmental, I believe that our future door is always open wide. We are determining to study well, constantly strive for a better future for us and to serve the homeland’s development”.
Attending the opening ceremony, Tran Thanh Liem, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of PPC, appreciated achievements of EIU, simultaneously reminded the university of personnel and infrastructure development; updating training programs corresponding to actual needs of businesses and society; enhancing international cooperation, scientific research activities; cultivating students to have necessary qualifications and morality to serve the homeland.
