Effective from heightened patrolling, proactive crime prevention

According to the assessment of Provincial Police, social security and order situation in Binh Duong province has been stable, but in the first six months of this year, property infringement still accounted for a high proportion (60.82%) in the provincial criminal proportion. Case number of murder and intentional injury decreased, but the nature, severity and danger were higher. Therefore, the proactive crime prevention, in which the patrol work needs to be more drastic to continue improving its effectiveness.

The Provincial Police increase night patrols to actively prevent crime and guarantee social security order.

Patrol and control are effective

In general, patrol work to actively prevent mobile crimes has been strengthened and gained positive results. Over the first 6 months, Provincial Police conducted 11,250 patrols, with more than 38,000 turns of officers and soldiers participating in patrols. As a result, 166 subjects illegally keeping and using drugs were detected and handled; 167 gamblers; 37 property thieves; 3 robbers; 221 subjects with affray causing public disorder; 126 subjects possessing supporting tools, rudimentary weapons and many other cases…

At the same time, Teams 171 across the province carried out nearly 2,000 patrols with more than 16,000 turns of officers and soldiers’ participation. Through patrols, more than 11,500 cases of road traffic violations were detected and handled; detected 72 subjects with illegal drug possession and drug use, 19 people having rudimentary weapons and 14 small gambling cases.

After the establishment of Special Patrol Team 171, the team has proved its effectiveness in proactively preventing crime, especially mobile criminals. With the flexibility and initiative of this force, many violations were detected and handled. In some cases, if not detected in time, it could have had unpredictable consequences.

Many individuals in Team 171 of Thu Dau Mot City Police Department make achievements in crime prevention and fighting, and are rewarded promptly.

Namely, when Provincial Police Team 171 patrolled on Doc Lap Boulevard, in Binh Duong 1 Ward, An Binh Ward, Di An City, Nguyen Van Kha (28 years old, born in Can Tho) was driving a motorbike with many suspicious behaviors, so he was ordered to stop the vehicle for inspection. After the inspection, the patrol force discovered a revolver (Rulo gun style) and 17 bullets on Kha's motorbike, so they temporarily seized exhibits and ordered the subject come to the police agency for investigation. Then Kha confessed to buying the gun and bullets from Facebook for a total cost of more than 4 million VND. After that, this subject posted photos of guns and bullets online to make money. When the subject brought his "hot goods" to deliver to customers, he was arrested.

Positive effects from traffic police

In addition to the main forces, during the patrol and control process, traffic police in the whole province also detected and handled many law violations. Lieutenant Colonel Thuong Van Lanh, Leader of Traffic Police of Provincial Police Department, said that for resolutely fighting and dealing with law violations, fighting fiercely with criminals, Provincial Traffic Police coordinated with other forces to enhance efficiency in patrolling and controlling at different time frames in areas, routes, alleys and bordering areas with key locations. Thereby, they timely prevented groups from gathering to cause public disorder, arrested many subjects of property theft, drugs, robbery, illegal possession of military weapons, etc.

The traffic police force regularly patrols roads with different frequencies and at different time frames, creating a positive effect in the work of ensuring traffic order and safety. Captain Phan Trong Huu, Vice Captain of Traffic Police Team of Thu Dau Mot City Police, said that the Traffic Police is effectively maintaining traffic order and safety, actively participating in 2 Teams 171 at different time frames to handle law violations and prevent street crimes on key routes.

According to Captain Phan Trong Huu, during the patrol and control process, if Team 171 discovered cars, which were damaged, ran out of gas, or eateries that had a fire problem, then quickly helped and provided help timely, thereby creating peace of mind for people in Thu Dau Mot City. From the beginning of this year, Team 171 of Thu Dau Mot City Police organized nearly 200 patrols with 2,180 officers and soldiers’ participation, thereby detecting and making records of more than 2,620 cases of traffic safety violations; detected 6 cases with 13 subjects with illegal acts.

Meanwhile, after a peak patrolling month for ensuring traffic safety, preventing crime and law violations, the Traffic Police Team under Police Department of Tan Uyen City discovered 5 cases with 7 subjects related to the fight against crime, thereby contributing to guarantee social security in the city.
