Due to efforts of all members, the emulation movement of “Exemplary veterans” of Phu Giao district Veterans Association has achieved many positive results. This has been a prerequisite for improving the quality of activities and contributed to socio-economic, defense - security development of the locality.
Accordingly, Phu Giao district Veterans Association established 6 specific emulation criteria in accordance with local situation, organized emulation agreement signing from early this year, and then disseminated among all its affiliates and members.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Tien, Chairman of Phu Giao district Veterans Association, said, emulation contents were defined in accordance with characteristics of the association and had high feasibility. Propaganda was generally implemented well. Many affiliates have organized short-term emulation movements with specific, practical and useful contents, attracting majority cadres, members to join.
Phu Giao district Veterans Association offered scholarships to poor pupils.
Emulation movements have encouraged veterans to promote the traditional personalities of Uncle Ho's soldiers to build up and strengthen the Party, government, great national unity, maintain political stability, social order and safety. The Association has defined this as an important and frequent political task. The Association and its affiliates have oriented members to good virtues maintaining, being pioneers in policies and laws compliance, engaging actively in local movements and socioeconomic developing programs.
Besides, the Association developed and carried out plans to implement well democratic regulations, strengthen internal unity, and great national unity together with the people; fought against conspiracies destabilizing political stability of enemies. In addition, emulation movements done by Phu Giao district Veterans Association have helped members to develop home-based business, reducing poverty, accelerated gratitude activities, improved material, spiritual life of people, protected legitimate interests of its members, contributed to local socioeconomic development.
In 2014, the district eliminated 6 poor households, decreasing by 12 poor households. Activities taking care of material, spiritual life of members have been paid much attention, such as: organizing contests of wall-newspapers, photos, sports, singing… On the other hand, movements have contributed to successfully implementing socioeconomic development tasks. Campaigns and programs in collaboration with other agencies, sectors have educated young generations on patriotic, revolutionary traditions.
In 2014, 100% affiliates achieved strong and transparent title; 1,868/1,884 members got exemplary title (achieving 99.15%); 1,738/1,750 family members achieved cultural family title (achieving 99.3%). Through movements, many excellent collectives and individuals have emerged, for example, Veterans Associations of Phuoc Vinh town, An Binh commune, Tan Hiep commune, Bui Thi Lanh (Phuoc Vinh town), Nguyen Thanh Binh (Vinh Hoa commune), Le Thi Khoi (Phuoc Hoa commune)…
With achieved results, Phu Giao district Veterans Association has devised plans for the future. Mr. Nguyen Duc Tien said: “The Association will continue to promote Party, government building activities, family economic developing movements, reducing poverty, improving material, spiritual life of members.
Besides, the Association has actively participated in local campaigns, such as: “All people protect national security", “Vietnamese people give priority to Vietnamese goods”, “All people unite to build cultural life in residential areas", building cultural families, quarters, and constructing new rural…
