Amidst rapid urbanization and industrialization, Binh Duong has continuously strived to balance economic development with environmental protection. The 2021–2025 period marks a significant phase of close coordination among all-level authorities, Fatherland Front Committee (FFC), political-social organizations and communities in implementing practical activities towards the goal of building up a green, clean, beautiful and sustainable Binh Duong.
Practical activities
In recent years, especially during the 2021–2025 period, environmental protection in Binh Duong has become a widespread movement, strongly resonating throughout the community. Numerous self-managed models, volunteer teams and initiatives from political-social organizations have upheld their effectiveness, attracting active participation from the entire political system, businesses and citizens. Over the past five years, the province has planted and taken care of more than one million trees, contributing to improving the quality of air.

According to provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, provincial FFC and other mass organizations have established 99 self-managed models in residential areas, engaging 13,500 participants. Districts and cities have developed 604 self-managed teams in 587 residential areas. Outstanding models include “Civilized Funerals and Environmental Protection”, “Climate Change Adaptation” among others. Organizations have also proactively launched creative models and activities. For example, the Women’s Union has promoted initiatives such as “Trash-Free Streets”, “Smart and Friendly Alleys”, “Golden Half-Hour for a Green and Clean Life” and “Recycling for Love, aiming at protecting the environment and supporting disadvantaged members. The Youth Union has taken the lead with initiatives like “Green Offices”, “Clean Sidewalks, Beautiful Corners”, “Green Boarding Houses” and campaigns to plant trees and remove unauthorized advertisements. The Farmers’ Association has implemented models for handling household and agricultural waste such as collecting pesticide packaging, composting organic waste, creating agricultural waste pits, helping reduce pollution and enhance sustainable farming skills. The Veterans’ Association has established and maintained 510 self-managed teams for regularly cleaning and planting trees in residential areas. The Labor Union launched the “Trade Union Tree Gardens” campaign, improving working environments and green residential areas.
At the same time, the dissemination of environmental laws has been strengthened through training sessions, workshops, contests and multi-platform communication. As a result, public awareness and behavior regarding environmental protection have gradually shifted towards more civilized and responsible practices. Tran Thanh Quang, Head of provincial Environmental Protection Sub-department noted that the recent achievements in environmental protection are highly commendable. Key to this success is the synchronized and effective coordination among all sectors and the enthusiastic participation of the public. This forms a solid foundation for Binh Duong to further promote environmental protection and work towards sustainable development for the 2026–2030 period.
Spreading message on environmental protection
Every year, World Environment Day (June 5) serves as an important occasion to spark community responsibility and action for the environment. This year, in Binh Duong, various localities have actively responded to this meaningful event by organizing vibrant and practical activities to spread the message of environmental protection among residents. Specific programs on making environmental environment, planting trees, distributing fabric bags and exchanging waste for gifts have created a positive impact.

In Dau Tieng district, a series of activities began in early May, with a highlight being provincial-level launching ceremony of the “Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to Uncle Ho” held in Long Hoa commune, drawing a large number of participants. In addition, Dau Tieng district intensified communication efforts through banners, leaflets and events such as recycled fashion contests for students and the promotion of the “greening” of residential areas. Nguyen Phuong Linh, Vice Secretary of the district’s Party Committee and Chairman of the district People’s Committee emphasized the hope that each citizen will recognize their ability to contribute to environmental protection through the smallest actions.
Another notable event was the contest of “Act for Nature – Our Responsibility” recently held by Dau Tieng district’s Department of Education and Training, attracting the participation of 39 schools. Students showcased their commitment to a green lifestyle through creatively designed outfits made from recycled materials. Meanwhile, in An Lap commune, more than 120 members of the Women’s Union and the Farmers’ Association took part in a program to exchange plastic waste for gifts, helping promote green consumption habits.
In Phu Giao district, Van Quang Chinh, Vice Chairman of the district’s People’s Committee shared that in response to this year’s World Environment Day, numerous roads and residential areas were cleaned, cleared and had their drainage systems unclogged. The district’s Youth Union implemented the “Green Saturday” program, organized parades, removed unauthorized advertisements and cleaned up waste “black spots”. Other initiatives such as “Green Sundays”, “Volunteer Saturdays”, tree planting and clearing of drains have attracted thousands of Youth Union members and residents, contributing to building a green, clean and beautiful living environment.
Dau Tieng district has been assigned by the province to organize activities in celebration of World Environment Day (June 5), 2025. The event is taking place today (June 5) at Dau Tieng district’s People’s Committee, with the theme of “Beat Plastic Pollution”.
According to provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, by 2030, Binh Duong aims at pursuing sustainable development in harmony with economic growth and environmental protection. Key priorities include improving urban environments, using resources efficiently, reducing emissions and striving for net-zero emissions by 2050 under national commitments.
