Over the past years, with the “For children” motto, the provincial Youth Union has focused on implementing many movements and measures to accelerate the work on protecting, taking care and educating children.

Educating tradition
Educating tradition for children has been paid much attention by the provincial Youth Union through various and plentiful activities such as film screenings, excursions, exchange meetings, gift visits to privileged families and so on. Especially, in order to find out and educate homeland love as well as preserve and uphold historic values, the provincial Pioneer Council has launched implementation of work of searching “red addresses” to its affiliates. Accordingly, the provincial Pioneer Council composed and issued 1,000 “red address” handbooks for local children and teenagers.
Besides, the provincial Youth Union annually holds the program of “Lighting up Binh Duong children’s dreams” in attachment to granting Doan Thi Lien and Ho Van Men Awards to help poor children pursue their study. Specifically, in the past year the provincial Youth Union held the first festival for talented underprivileged children. At the festival, the provincial Youth Union honored 91 talented underprivileged children and granted 4 “Pioneer's scarf” houses to local students.
In order to push up the “For children” mobilization, the provincial Pioneer Council held the “Binh Duong children’s festival for the national border” program. Implementing the program, the Youth Union initiated to mobilize pioneers to subscribe learning aids and notebooks and books for children living in remote areas of Binh Phuoc province’s Loc Ninh district. On the occasion of the gift visit, the local typical pioneers visited Ta Thiet war base, soldiers o Ta Pet-Loc Ninh border post and granted 15 scholarships each worth VND500,000 to needy students of Loc Dien B primary school in Loc Thanh commune, Loc Ninh district. In addition, the delegation donated 12,000 notebooks, 1,000 clothes, 800 sets of textbook and thousands of learning aids and other essential products to Binh Phuoc provincial Youth Union and organized 4 self-service stalls for students of Loc Dien B primary school.
Improving quality of activities for children
In the past year, the provincial inter-pioneer councils held small plans by collecting used paper and empty cans to raise funds worth nearly VND350mil. Besides, about 3,000 pupils were honored for their good deeds.
Aside from paying attention to children’s material life, the local youth union at all levels has specially focused on their spiritual life. The provincial Youth Union has mapped out plans to hold recreation activities for children, teenagers. As a result, the whole of the province has thus far had 4 out of 9 district-level children’s houses. Additionally, the provincial Youth Union in cooperation with the provincial party committee’s organization board issued a manual on functions and tasks and apparatuses of Children’s House and district-level Center for children and teenagers.
Nguyen Thi Kim Mai, vice secretary of the provincial Youth Union cum chairwoman of the provincial Pioneer Council said that the provincial Youth Union will in the coming time strengthen the work on educating morality, tradition as well as improving quality of emulation movements and mobilizations for children. In addition, the provincial Youth Union will launch the movement of “I love Vietnamese history” in a bid to enhance children’s understanding on history and cultural identity preservation.
