Material life taken care of
At exhibition and fair of Binh Duong provincial socio-economic performance from 2010 to 2015, over 100,000 visitors including many workers were present for shopping.
“Beside fairs organized by Binh Duong province, Management Board of VSIP II also held occasional fairs of Vietnamese goods to service workers’ buying. In such fair, we felt secured about product quality at reasonable prices, ensuring health of family members,” said Ly Ngoc Lan, a worker of Vietnam Jupiter Foods Joint Stock Company in Hoa Phu Ward, Thu Dau Mot City.

Beside meeting workers’ shopping demands, their housing demand is gradually resolved. Binh Duong Province issued Program No. 27-CT/TU dated September 20, 2011 with prepared and implemented plan of social housing development in 2011-2015. In a short time, Binh Duong Province has attracted 82 projects of social housing development, of which, 34 projects have currently been completed and put into use, meeting demands of about 64,000 people. Additionally, Binh Duong had about 200 companies in industrial parks and clusters which invested in building of about 180,000 boarding houses to meet workers’ demands.
Ho Quang Diep, the Director of Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, said that on Tet Holiday, Binh Duong appointed delegations to meet and encourage workers living away from their homes and workers with difficult circumstances. Additionally, for 5 years, Binh Duong Province has deducted budget of the province and districts to support workers with 28,850 gifts worth VND 12.88 billion. The grassroots unions and businesses also donated over 1.77 million gifts, worth VND 227 billion, of which over 1 million gifts were from funds of grassroots labor unions, worth VND 140 billion, 770,000 gifts of companies, worth VND 87.7 billion. The program of sentimental trips is also implemented with over 4,000 workers to be brought back home for Tet, at a total budget of about VND 3.5 billion.
Cultural and spiritual playground built
Along with caring for material life, Binh Duong offered resolutions to improve workers’ spiritual life. To watch the movies with workers in My Phuoc Industrial Park at My Phuoc Theatre 2 was to feel all their joy. After tiring working days, workers are invited to the theater to see the new movies on Saturday and Sunday evenings at with cheap price of VND 20,000-30,000 per ticket. At the site, live domestic and foreign football leagues and live shows of singers and comedians from Ho Chi Minh City as well as the teenager karaoke contests… To contribute to bring joy to workers, provincial Center for Culture and Movies and Traditional Singing and Dancing Troupe also offers 120 performance sessions every year to entertain the workers.
In this year, Provincial Youth’s League has particularly launched models of “Mobile e-library” and “Cultural boarding houses for the youths”. Accordingly, the model of “Cultural boarding houses for the youths” of Tinh Van Hoa Company is built and managed under legal regulations and equipped with bookcase, medicine cabinets, and a playground. As for the model of “Mobile e-library”, provincial library will deliver books, newspapers, and magazines and open up 20 laptops with internet connection at communal cultural centers to help workers access science and technology knowledge. Annually, Binh Duong Province also launches movements of ‘Week for youths and young workers’ and ‘Month for workers’ in order to meet workers’ demands of material and spiritual lives through entertainment activities such as worker’s fashion festival, workers’ singing and karaoke contests, cuisine contests, sport activities, presenting gifts to workers suffered from occupational accidents and serious illness, and many other free activities such as free health examination and haircut…
Tran Thanh Liem, the Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee and permanent Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee, said that the achievement was thanks to the fact that departments, unions, and agencies had cooperated with people’s committee at districts, towns, and Thu Dau Mot City, regulating their efforts to gather economic sectors’ investments into cultural and sport activities, cooperating with State to create an environment for cultural activities, entertainment, sports, improving cultural and spiritual life for workers. Many businesses, individuals and economic sectors have jointly organized cultural activities, entertainment events, sports competitions, and investments of thousands of billion dongs into facilities to meet the demands for culture, entertainment, and sports of workers such as the Cultural and Sport Centers of Dau Tieng Rubber One-Member Limited Company and Phuoc Hoa Rubber Joint Stock Company, My Phuoc Theatre, Thanh Le Park Theatre, My Phuoc tennis - football field.
Provincial Labor Union will continue to coordinate with the government to locate the most convenient place to build the union's institutions to service the workers. IN November 2015, the union will begin with groundbreaking for the Center of Culture and Labor in Thuan An Town with expected construction cost of over VND 70 billion into items such as soccer fields, theaters, and amusement parks for employees, coordinating with Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Provincial Youth’s League to organize activities for workers.
Bui Thanh Nhan, the Deputy Chairman of the provincial Labor Union, said that for employees outside the province to feel secured in their work, Binh Duong Province has offered many caring policies. Particularly, annual, the province organizes roundtable meeting between provincial leaders and employees, union officials at the enterprises in the province. Their petitions have been answered by departments and unions. Some petitions are recorded; and the majority has been resolved promptly such as security situation improvement, social housing policy meeting, medical caring, and regimes, policies social insurance improvement...
