On Nov. 7, 2010, at the 8th session of the 12th NA, the law on Customer Protection was ratified. The birth of this law shows the Party and State’s attention to customer protection.
Since Aug. 26, 2002, the provincial People’s Committee decided to set up the society of customer protection. Until now, the entire province has 7 sub-societies of over 6,000 members. In 2012 alone, there were 3,010 new members joining in the sub-societies. Of these, Dau Tieng and Ben Cat districts developed nearly 2,000 members.
In terms of inspection and settlement, functional agencies solved about 5,500 violations, fining VND200bil. Especially, in 2011 functional agencies solved over 10,000 violations, with the total fine of over VND256bil.
Annually, the society at all levels give consultancies on negotiation for hundreds of turns of customers, receive hundreds of information on trade fraud and among others.
With the mentioned achievements, the local society for customer protection received many merit certificates from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Vietnam Association of Standard and Customer Protection and so on.
