Employees feel secure to stay in Binh Duong

In the southern provinces and cities, there has been a situation of workers freely returning to their hometowns to avoid Covid-19 pandemic when the pandemic has got more complicated in recent days that are able to cause the spread of the pandemic in the community. In Binh Duong, through propaganda, mobilization with many care activities from the local authorities and trade unions at all levels, many immigrant workers have felt secure to stay here.

Safety for yourself

Le Van Toan, from northern Hoa Binh province, a worker at Thong Dung Shoes Co., Ltd., currently living at a lodging facility in Thuan An city’s An Phu ward said that according to sources from press agencies, television stations, many workers have recently lelf their places of residence to return to their hometowns to avoid the pandemic by motorbikes. He said that amid the complicated developments of the pandemic, such action is not correct, posing many dangerous risks not only to themselves but also to their family and the community. Moreover, if freely returning to their hometowns, workers will not pass through checkpoints for Covid-19 prevention and control. And what will their life be when being stuck on the street? In addition, having to travel with a long distance by motorbike is also very dangerous…“Hence, in my opinion, going back to hometown at this time is not good at all. I decided to stay at many lodging room and follow measures against the pandemic to keep health, waiting for the company's announcement to return to work. I also mobilized people living at the lodging facility and my colleagues to do this well", said Toan.

Like many other workers, Nguyen Van Hong, a worker at Hoa Phat Furniture Joint Stock Company rests assured to stay at his place of residence.

Whilst, Nguyen Van Hong, from northern Ninh Dinh province, a worker at Binh Duong branch of Hoa Phat Furniture Joint Stock Company in the Dai Dang Industrial Park in Thu Dau Mot city who now stays at a lodging facility in Phu My ward said that in the face of the complicated developments of the pandemic, he and his wife also wanted to return to their hometown to avoid the pandemic. However, through propaganda from the company's Trade Union and the local government, they gave up this idea, set their mind at rest to stay in the province and wait for the company's announcement going back to work. “Besides the time to go to the market to buy neccesities by coupons twice a week, my wife and I stay at the lodging room, limiting going out to keep ourselves healthy. I just hope the epidemic will pass quickly so that life can return to normal. Most workers staying at the lodging facility also no longer intend to return to their hometowns to avoid the pandemic", said he.

Propaganda and practical care promoted

Facing the situation that workers intend to return to their hometowns to avoid the pandemic, the local authorities and trade unions at all levels have strengthened the task of propagandizing and mobilizing workers to stay in the province to facilitate the local Covid-19 prevention and control, ensuring health and safety for themselves and the community. Doan Nam Le Thien, Vice-Chairman of Di An city’s Labor Union said that the city's Labor Union has deployed instructions from authorities at all levels and higher-level trade union to all trade union locals and Covid safety teams at enterprises in order to propaganize and mobilize employees to strictly implement measures against the pandemic, not leaving their places of residence to return to hometown to avoid the pandemic.

They have also implemented many activities to take care of the lives of workers and people, thereby helping them feel secure, strictly following regulations on Covid-19 prevention-control and not leaving their places of residence to ensure safety for themselves, their relatives and the community. Trade unions at all levels of the city have also informed and shared the "hot" line 1022 of the province and the number phone 0889.287.287 of provincial Trade Union among laborers so that they can receive timely support.

Similarly, Ben Cat town-based Industrial Parks’Trade Union, Tan Uyen town’s Labor Union….have also directed trade union locals to mobilize workers not to leave their places of residence to ensure the effectivenes of Covid-19 prevention and control. In the past few days, localities have paid attention to calling for  workers to “stay where one is” by many forms through community-based Covid-19 Covid groups, radio stations...

Phan Thai Son, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of An Phu ward in Thuan An city said that along with calling for workers to “stay where one is”, the ward’s authority and mass organizations have also taken care of the lives of people and workers affected by the pandemic in isolation and blockade areas by such practical activities as giving necessities, organizing the "beloved kitchen" program with breakfast meals for workers at quarantined and blocked lodging facilities. Especially, the ward’s Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control has announced a list of 12 "hot" phone numbers of ward and quarter officials to support people in need of food and foodstuffs. As of late July 2021, the ward presented more than 5,000 gifts worth more than VND1.8billion, including necessities..., to people and workers in the local blockade areas.
