Ensure safety for students returning to school

After about 3 months, the pupils will be temporarily absent from school to prevent and control Covid-19 epidemic. May 4, students at all levels in the province will return to school. All preparatory work to welcome students back to school, such as: school sanitation, measures to prevent and fight epidemics in schools, are carried out in general by the whole industry.

The school is clean

Under the direction of the Department of Education and Training (MOET), in the past week, the schools in the province continued to carry out the overall cleaning of the schools from inside to outside. On weekends, despite the holidays, teachers of Le Hong Phong Primary School (Thu Dau Mot City) still come to school to clean the classrooms. The contact surfaces such as tables, chairs, door handles, stair rails ... are carefully cleaned by the girls. Very well prepared to welcome students back to school, in addition to the previously equipped hand washing sinks, the school also added 2 sinks with many faucets at the school yard for students to wash their hands before going to class.

The time to leave school is too long, teachers and students are anxious to return to school to complete the school year program. The day students return to school must ensure safety, which is a set requirement for the entire industry. Therefore, all schools are interested in sanitation, arranging more hand washing sinks for students. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam, Principal of Thuan An Primary School (Thuan An City), said that every staircase, student drinking area, cafeteria and even the school yard have handwashing hose to serve students. “The school has also carried out cleaning, disinfecting the classrooms, preparing antiseptic hand-washing water for each classroom, arranging hand-washing soap in the toilet area for teachers and students, equipped with a body temperature meter to check temperature for students. In general, all preparations for students to return to school have been completed by the school ”, Ms. Tam said.

Worrying for the health of students during the Covid-19 epidemic season, in addition to the responsibility of the school, there is the joint effort of the health sector. In Thu Dau Mot City, over the past week, the City Health Center's disease prevention team has sprayed disinfectants with all schools in the city. Mr. Tran Hoang Phuong said that many schools and staff are few, so they work at full capacity, including holidays to complete the spraying, to protect the students' safety and hygiene.

All for dear students, in addition to the conditions to ensure safety for students as prescribed, the school has ways to best protect the health of students. Specifically, Dong Hoa Primary School (Da An City), the school made 3,000 hats for students to wear foam compartments during lunch and at recess. Hats made by the students themselves during the school holidays to prevent and control diseases.

Perform distancing

In addition to ensuring facilities, medical equipment, sanitation at schools, schools also pay attention to the distance and plans to ensure the health of teachers and students when students return to school in the direction of Ministry of Health guidelines. A survey of a number of schools in Thu Dau Mot City shows that elementary schools divide their class into 2 shifts, studying for 3 days a week. Ms. Vo Thi Minh Hieu, who has a second-grade child at Phu Tho Primary School (Thu Dau Mot City), said the homeroom teacher had just sent a notice of her child's schooling time on 4-5 days. According to the spacing requirements, students in the classroom will be divided into a list of students according to the schedule of 2 groups, the students in group 1 will study on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday; Students in group 2 will study on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Another parent with children at Phu Hoa 2 Primary School also said that in addition to shifts, the school also announces the time for students to take classes from 5 to 10 minutes to avoid crowding. The thoughtful preparation of the school gives parents peace of mind during the Covid-19 epidemic season.

In Thuan An City, too, elementary and junior high schools also divide students into 2 learning groups, each group study 3 days a week or cross in the morning and afternoon. “For preschools, the Education and Training Department guides schools to pick up children from school gates. Schools open all gates to reduce the crowds, in case the school has one gate, the school will divide the time to collect children 30 minutes apart. Depending on the situation at the unit, schools can organize children to participate in cross-hour activities to avoid overcrowding, ”said Ms. Huynh Thi My Ngan, Head of Education and Training Department, Thuan An City.

Ms. Nguyen Phuong Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, said that the department has instructed the conditions to ensure safety for students to return to school and to handle cases of suspected Covid-19 in schools under the direction of Ministry and health sector. In that note, when students go to school, the school does not allow parents, who are not supposed to enter the school. The school arranges people to pick up and deliver preschool children and elementary students at the school gate. Take body temperature measurements for students, teachers, administrators and staff before entering the school and classroom. In the classroom, the seats are arranged between 2 students with appropriate distance according to the instructions of the health sector. At the end of each class, the school strictly observes the spacing when leaving the school gate, reminding students to wear a mask on the way home. The school maintains hygiene, disinfecting the school and class as prescribed.
