Transformation of environment protection in terms of awareness and practice is promoted by Decree No. 41-NQ/TW of the Politburo.
The greatest achievement in environment protection is in industrial production. Since 2006, 94 investment projects have been rejected for inappropriate investment and violation of environment protection. Approvals are only made for appropriate planning projects applying clean technology and pollution reduction equipments. New industrial parks and establishments have all issued environmental impact assessment and commitment of environment protection prior to their operation. Up to date, 75% of operating industrial parks or 18 over 24 industrial parks have constructed a general waste water treatment system to which 92% of enterprises in industrial parks have connected. Up to 75% of establishments outside industrial parks have constructed facilities to minimize pollution.

Beside environment protection in industrial production, the practice was also focused in urban areas where hot issues of water release and waste water treatment are prioritized to be resolved from 2006 to 2012 by 15 projects of water release and treatment.
Solid waste collection and treatment have been significantly improved by more employees and better equipments. Many private group collecting waste have formed up to ensure 81% of waste collected. Some construction of landfill and rubbish wastewater treatment station in Southern Binh Duong has contributed to better waste treatment.
Projects of water supply and green trees are also launched including projects in Southern Thu Dau Mot, Tan Hiep, and Southern Tan Uyen. By now, Southern Thu Dau Mot water supply project has completed and been expected to operate by 2010 to increase water supply for the sake of industrial and urban development.
Ratio of green trees and water surface in the province is accounted for 7.4% of total urban land area. In the meantime, environment protection in rural areas has transformed to control and limit over-use of pesticide in growing and reserving produces.
Models of high-tech agriculture are applied and expanded to districts of Tan Uyen, Phu Giao, Ben Cat, and Dau Tieng.
Programs of clean water and environmental sanitation continue to prompt people to practice environment protection. Up to now ratio of households using sanitation toilets is 82% while over 52% have constructed waste treatment system for husbandry. Collection and treatment of daily refuse have also improved rural environment.
State management in environment protection has satisfied the on-going management across industries and rural practice. Specialized organizations are formed to conduct environment protection. In districts and towns averagely 6-7 officials are assigned to environment protection tasks for more active and practical work.
As for investment from 2007 to 2010 over VND 1,100 billion is invested by domestic enterprises while nearly VND 1,500 billion is from ODA or by ADB.
Meantime, nearly VND 50 billion is invested for 6 enterprises participating in treating and recycling waste. Many private autonomous groups are formed to collect waste while models of self-managing are introduced, denoting that socializing environment protection will dramatically transform environment protection tasks.
