During the local industrialization and modernization, industrial parks (IPs) have contributed to economic development, job placement, income improvement and increase on living quality, especially effective settlement of environmental pollution.
Right from its inception, Binh Duong IPs management board mulls over environmental protection and conducts the environmental protection plan according to 3 stages.
In the first stage (1995-2003), owing to focus on investment attraction, issue of environment lacked a high attention. Most of IPs did not concentrate on building waste treatment system. In addition, the board lacked staff specializing in environment field.
Till the 2nd period (2003-2006), the board paid attention to environmental management. IPs focused on building waste treatment facilities.

Due to rapid development of IPs, a specialized force of environment is needed to control environment protection at businesses. On July 1, 2006, the department of environmental management was founded to take charge of environment protection at IPs. The birth of the department has facilitated environmental management at IPs.
Efficiency from management of environmental protection
Till Oct. 2010, Binh Duong IPs management board is allowed to assess impacts on environment of investment projects at 7 IPs, to conduct inspections at over 570 businesses in 7 IPs. The decentralization helps excel the State management of environmental protection at IPs.
Basically, the board has controlled waste sources, especially waste water. Businesses in IPs have pledged to protect environment as stipulated. The newly-established IPs have built waste treatment system.
Only one IP in 1995, the province has so far had 26 IPs spreading from the local Southern area till Northern area with the total area of 7,611,60ha. 15 out of 22 IPs have had waste treatment facilities with a designed capacity of 42,800 cubic meters per day.
Companies at IPs are aware of investing in waste treatment system. Most of them have linked with an IP’s focused waste treatment system when putting into operation.
Aside from selected investment attraction, promulgations and inspections on environment have helped create positive changes on environment at IPs. The positive changes have contributed for the locality to develop sustainably in the period of the country industrialization and modernization.
