district’s People’s Committee has just signed a decision to approve the project
of “Building up a plan on environmental protection till 2015 and vision towards
2020”. The objectives of the project are to assess the district’s real
situation on environment; predict the district’s changes about natural
resources and environment till 2015 and vision towards 2020; put forward a detail
plan to protect the environment as well as people’s health in the district, contributing
to speeding up the local effectiveness of environmental protection. 
Dau Tieng district’s authorities and people are very concerned about a harmony between development and environmental protection
According to some cadres who are in charge of environmental issues, environmental pollution is now a great challenge for Dau Tieng district. Particularly, Dau Tieng district-based reservoirs, namely Dau Tieng, Can Nom…have been polluted by households raising fish in cages, the rampant operations of entertainment, tourism and land exploitation.
Two rivers, Sai Gon and Thi Tinh, have faced a serious pollution, badly affecting the local people’s underground water system. This is because the local authorities have lacked a close management plus some factories and firms’ poor awareness in environmental protection.
Hence, the local authorities and people are very concerned about how to make a harmony between development and environmental protection. And the project of “Building up a plan on environmental protection till 2015 and vision towards 2020” aims to solve this thorny problem.
Accordingly, Dau Tieng district is determined to fulfill its projects on absolutely solving waste water from rubber latex processing sector; collecting and treating solid waste; building up a waste water treatment system in Dau Tieng township; setting up action plans to protect water resources in the district, especially in Dau Tieng and Can Nom reservoirs…and other natural resources.
Dau Tieng will also raise public awareness of environmental protection via many propaganda activities; build up and implement training programs on environment protection to improve the ability of cadres who are in charge of environmental issues at district/commune levels; build up a database regarding natural resources and environment; establish and promote the development of the local propagandists on environmental protection…
With the viewpoint of “Environmental protection is the task of all people”, Dau Tieng district’s project of “Building up a plan on environmental protection till 2015 and vision towards 2020” will bring high efficiency, positively affecting human beings.
