- Binh Duong province has now nearly 20,000 manufacturing facilities; industrialization and urbanization process is taking place with high speed. This is a pressure for environmental protection works. The difficulty lies in small old facilities without drainage system. In the near future, the province will mobilize resources to solve this issue to protect the environment and ensure production of businesses.
- Environmental monitoring system of Binh Duong province has been highly assessed by experts. Which benefits has this system brought to our province?
- Environmental monitoring system has been operated since 2011 to connect and manage more than 60 automatic wastewater monitoring stations with total capacity up to 180.000m3/day and night. Department of Natural Resources – Environment has operated 3 automatic surface water monitoring stations on Saigon River, Dong Nai River, and Thi Tinh River, and 3 groundwater monitoring stations in Di An and Thuan An town.
Environmental monitoring system marks a new step in the application of automatic monitoring equipment to measure environmental indicators. The system also saves personnel cost, improves effectiveness of automatic sampling, thereby, the management of waste discharge systems has become simpler and more effective.
- What policies province has developed in order for businesses to promote both manufacture and environmental protection?
- The province has annual action programs associated with propaganda and encouraging businesses to protect the environment. Besides Black Book, Green Book has also been regularly published. In 2014, 59 enterprises were honored in Green Book for their effective activities to protect the environment in production process. Green Environmental Award is a new award but has received positive feedbacks from residential areas, and spread widely among industrial zones.
In addition, Binh Duong province established a fund to support businesses being conscious of environmental protection in production process. Businesses may take our loans with low interest rate of 4 -5%/year from this fund. Maximum loan is up to VND25 billion, or 70% of project value. With this support, we hope that enterprises will become more aware of environmental protection in production in order to contribute to fulfilling environmental protection targets, guaranteeing a long-term and sustainable development of Binh Duong province.
