Phu Giao district is now home to 825 ethnic minority people with 3,043 people. Noticeably, the district has so far had no more poor ethnic minority people. They have not only reached a stable life, but also risen up to get rich.
Among ethnic minority people in the district, the most populated ones are Hoa, Khmer, Nung, Tay, Cham, Muong, S’tieng, Chau Ro, Thai, San Diu, San Chi, Dao, Tho, Bana…In the 2016-2020 period, the lives of the local ethnic minority people have got more thriving and stable. Most of them have earned their living by cultivation.

Tran Thi Hong, Vice-Chairwoman of the district’s People’s Committee said that the district’s sectors and mass organizations have supported the local ethnic minority people in sci-tech application into cultivation and animal husbandry, helping them stabilize their lives and rise up to get rich. The district has also well realized the State’s ethnic policies such as vocational training, job introduction, credit support, healthcare…, contributing to improving the spiritual and material lives of ethnic minority people, improving the local economic development.
Also according to her, the Party and State’s support policies for ethnic minority people in recent years have obviously changed the image of the local ethnic minority area. The application of sci-tech advancement into production has helped the local ethnic minority people escape poverty. The district has also perfected necessary social infrastructure facilities in the local ethnic minority area. Currently, there are 100% of the local ethnic minority people in use of power and clean water.
