In 2024, provincial Farmers' Association selected and honored 11 outstanding farmer members with the "Outstanding Farmer of Binh Duong" award. These are exemplary farmers in production and business who have made significant contributions to effectively implementing national programs and goals related to new-style rural construction and sustainable poverty reduction.
Daring to think, dare to do
Recently, many farmers in the province have been creative and dedicated in their production efforts to transform the rural economy and labor structure. With the idea of combining agricultural production and business with eco-tourism, particularly orchard-based rural tourism, Trinh Van Thong from Phu An commune’s An Thuan hamlet in Ben Cat city has taken bold steps to implement this model. His model of growing fruit trees combined with garden eco-tourism brings green space, relaxation and peaceful countryside to tourists.

By combining the cultivation of various fruit trees such as rambutan, durian, mangosteen, green-skin grapefruit, coconut and banana over an area of 3 hectares, Mr. Thong has not only produced goods for the market, but also created dishes that attract visitors to his eco-tourism site. In addition, he has cultivated "clean" rice on a 4-hectare plot. All agricultural products from this model are guaranteed to be "clean" with no use of harmful chemicals, ensuring safety for consumers. This model has ensured the agricultural planning and eco-tourism development orientation of Phu An commune.
Do Ngoc Huy, Chairman of provincial Farmers' Association: "In the coming period, provincial Farmers' Associations at all levels will further concretize the resolutions from the 10th provincial Farmers' Association congress for the 2023-2028 term by implementing a plan with 15 specific targets and 2 breakthrough programs. Specifically, these include developing a 6-side cooperation program to create linkages that support farmers in enhancing the value of agricultural products as well as establishing innovation startup models with effectiveness in agricultural development.
In his production and business activities, Mr. Thong has applied advanced technology and an automated irrigation system, incorporating scientific and technological advancements as well as forming linkages in product production, processing and consumption. Additionally, he has regularly participated in activities to exchange agricultural development experience in and out of the local area. He has also guided and shared his knowledge with other farmers and dedicated time to activities that express gratitude such as giving gifts to elderly or lonely families and children in need in the commune... Along with agricultural production, fruit farming combined with eco-tourism, Mr. Thong has expanded his business and services by developing a garden consultancy, design and renovation service as well as running a YouTube channel “Anh Sáu Miệt Vườn” to introduce and inspire creativity and innovation in production and business activities.
Not only Mr. Thong, many exemplary farmers and successful agricultural entrepreneurs at various levels in the province have also implemented creative approaches to promote agricultural products across multiple platforms such as TikTok, Facebook and e-commerce sites. These efforts have helped consumers easily access and purchase these products.
Rising through innovation
Previously, Pham Thi Thao from Minh Hoa commune’s Hoa Cuong hamlet in Dau Tieng district has boldly implemented a honeybee farming model to improve her family’s economic situation. In the beginning period, it was just her and her husband working with three hired laborers. Mrs. Thao shared: "After starting the beekeeping and developing the honey industry, I found it more economically viable. Therefore, my husband and I focused on expanding production". As a result, her family, along with other local farmers, established the Thao Trinh Honey Cooperative. To date, this model has provided stable jobs for 20 local residents. In the process of beekeeping and producing bee feed powder, she has invested in machinery and equipment to meet the standards for bottling and selling honey. She has also made efforts to learn new techniques and provided hands-on guidance to members of the cooperative to grow together.
Currently, Mrs. Thao produces bee feed and engages in honeybee farming on a 1,000m² area with an automated and semi-automated system. She has actively participated in and supported local movements and campaigns organized by the community and the Farmers' Association such as organizing product exhibitions, visiting and learning from other models, providing mutual assistance in production, contributing to building “great unity” houses, supporting the "For the Poor" Fund... Every year, she also guides and shares knowledge and business experience, helping disadvantaged households with capital, materials, techniques and expertise to develop their economic models and participate in social welfare activities.
Mr. Huy stated that every year, the association organizes provincial "Outstanding Farmer" award to further promote achievements, encourage, recognize and honor exemplary farmers who have made significant contributions to production and business as well as the association's activities and the overall development of the local economy and society…Along with this, the association has further enhanced the effectiveness of the “good farmer in production and business” movement, fostering solidarity in wealth creation and achieving sustainable poverty reduction; focused on accelerating digital transformation in the cooperative economy, restructuring the agricultural sector towards urban agriculture, high-tech applications and the development of eco-agricultural tourism models in association with environmental protection.
