In response to the World Environment Day (June 5), Thuan An city’s Association of the Elderly has cooperated with the city’s Division of Natural Resources and Environment to organize the 2023 "Elderly people with environment" contest. With the spirit of joining hands to protect the environment and spread the message of green, clean and beautiful living for the sake of each person's living environment, participating teams competed enthusiastically in the knowledge test and brought many meaningful skits.
Coming to the contest with the desire of exchanging and learning from friends about solutions to protect the environment, especially the protection of the local fruit orchards, Lac Thi Ba, member of Binh Nham ward’s Association of the Elderly said that environmental issues are getting a lot of attention. However, we need to come up with specific solutions and mobilize everyone to follow them in order to get effectiveness. When we have good behavior towards the environment, the environment will bring us healthier living conditions.
Propagandizing actively
Lac Thi Ba Not was not only enthusiastic in environmental protection, but also made many beautiful impressions with everyone by her sweet voice in the skit "Relieving stress, not littering". In this skit, characters were all very excited to return to ecotourism in an orchard in Binh Nham ward. Although being misunderstood as those littering, they still happily explained and joined hands with the Environmental Protection Volunteer Team of the local Association of the Elderly to collect garbage to keep the orchard greener and fresher.
Meanwhile, Binh Hoa ward’s Association of the Elderly pointed out the wrong actions of each person in the skit "Joining hands to protect the green, clean and beautiful environment". In the skit, the elderly talked about the problem of littering in the wrong places from street vendors. Most people thought that they littered a little bit and of course there was a sanitary team to clean up after every market. The story was thoroughly solved through explanation, propaganda of the quarter, the market management board... That is also the common message in littering in the wrong place for everyone. Be kind to the common environment as well as the environment in our own family.
Sharing with us, Nguyen Tu Thien, Vice- Chairman of An Thanh ward’s Association of the Elderly said that learning theory, taking multiple-choice exams was really difficult for the elderly. However, the contest helped the elderly review their knowledge in order to well respond to the environment or even be positive propagandists for families and quarters about green and clean living so that the place they live in is worth living.
Huynh Ngoc Suong, President of Thuan An city’s Association of the Elderly said that the contest has contributed to promoting propaganda, mobilization of all social forces to protect the environment, and respond to climate change, effectively exploit and use national resources, contributing to the national sustainable development. The contest was also an opportunity to strengthen the coordination and direction among Thuan An city’s Association of the Elderly, Division of Natural Resources and Environment and related units to detect, prevent and recommend ways to handle violations on natural resources and environment.
