On the occasion marking 60 years of Vietnamese Movie Sector, Binh Duong Newspaper reporter met up veteran field reporters to listen to their stories of life and photography.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu (former Director of Binh Duong Television): “Historical moments captured”
A few things left with him were antique still-photo and motion cameras. He retold the story since 1958 when he was still a student to Trinh Hoai Duc School, leading student association servicing revolutionary cause.

Retreating to secret operations in the forest, he became a spy and photography reporter before being transferred to the 6th Military Zone as a field reporter in charge of news agency, telegraphy and radio station operation of the 10th sub-zone.
He was in charge of reporting news events from the battle fields to Vietnamese Agency and the then Liberation Power Agency (LPA).
In wartime, a photograph may cost a life to depict the soul from the motion and the snapshots. Thus, cameramen even rushed out before the soldiers came up in the field.
One of life risking moments in his career was in Binh Long battle in 1972 when he rushed in the administrative office after the enemy had been defeated. The remaining from the basement suddenly emerged and returned fired. And, in those day of such memorable battle, he captured the moment of life and death of a mother and her breastfeeding child. She was left dead bare-chested while the child was seeking for the mother’s breast while others were running for their life in gunfires.
“So many had died and I captured that moment naming it “the last milk drop” aka “war crimes” before submitting for competition on newspapers. Later on, the photograph was honored many other prices,” he retold.
In peacetime and his retirement, he devoted to telecommunication development of the province and established Binh Duong Movie Factory on October 15, 1999.
Former photograpy reporter Vu Doanh Dzu: “Photography requires great passion”
Born in Ninh Binh in 1944, Mr. Vu Doanh Dzu became a photography reporter across battle fields of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Tay Nguyen, and etc. He was one of the upfront reporters to make the news of attacking troops to liberate Saigon.
As for Mr. Dzu, to take a photograph was paintaking with older equipment let alone the photographs being lost on marching.
“Wartime or peacetime, I prefer human and landscape of Tay Nguyen, our high land. Every trip there revive the past memory of my in the seek of beauty,” he said.
In 1979, Mr. Dzu continued his journey to Cambodia and won plenty other prizes.
By 2003, as many others, he retired and stayed in Binh Duong Province where he established association of photography with three other members including Tran Khanh Hung, Bui Vi Van, and Tran Tinh.
