Cutting labour and cutting working hours in enterprises is taking place on a large scale, while Tet is coming very close. Finding solutions to stabilize income and life to retain workers is the current top priority of many businesses. However, as difficulties in the product consumption of enterprises may persist, solving the problems of employment and income for employees is no longer the task of enterprises or an industry but requires the involvement of many administration branches, even the whole political system.
Affected by the prolonged conflict between Russia and Ukraine, leading to a global energy crisis and high inflation, some countries tightened spending, thus purchasing power was not as expected, leading to a shortage of business orders. According to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, from now until the end of the year, hundreds of thousands of underemployed workers in the textile, garment, leather and footwear industries, will have to quit or take a break. Therefore, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour called on trade unions at all levels to find solutions to protect workers' rights and aid workers to overcome difficulties, especially during the upcoming Lunar New Year. For sustainable development of business, the General Confederation of Labour calls on enterprises to focus on employees.
In response to the call of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Binh Duong provincial Labour Confederation has implemented some solutions to stabilize the labour situation in the province. For the immediate future, the provincial Labour Confederation will coordinate with Department of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs to review the number of businesses facing difficulties to take measures and help workers find new jobs, provide material support to help workers stabilize their lives. Currently, the Provincial Labour Confederation also has a plan to call Trade Unions at all levels to launch a campaign to take care of employees on the coming New Year. Like every year, with the contribution from many sides, this movement will bring workers a happy Tet.
On the other hand, many businesses have found many ways to solve employment and income problems to stabilize workers' lives. This is the top task of many businesses today, because businesses identify workers as valuable assets, if they lose workers because of lack of work, it means that businesses will lack labour when orders return. In order to retain employees, besides arranging reasonable jobs, many enterprises also pay for the rest of their shifts and annual leave to compensate for the days off for their employees. Understanding the difficulties of employees, many businesses have taken advantage of funds to support food and necessities to help workers overcome the difficult period due to lack of work and reduced income.
Although trade unions and businesses have taken many actions, the above solutions have not been able to completely solve workers' difficulties. Finding solutions to help workers overcome difficulties requires the effort of many branches and the whole political system. In order to help workers stabilize their lives, an additional support package from the Government to tackle this situation is necessary in the current period.
