Lieutenant Colonel Phan Van Sang - Team Leader of Fire and Rescue Police under Tan Uyen town Police, said recent fires mainly occurred in companies, businesses and establishments operating in the field of furniture, flammable foam waste, operating machinery generating friction, or due to the influence of hot weather which made the electrical system catch fires. In addition, the dry weather also increases the risk of grass fires in vacant lands and gardens.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Sang, a number of small fires were caused by burning garbage, hay, and even dumping burning cigarette filters in an empty area containing. In order to prevent such fires, the Fire and Rescue Police under Tan Uyen town Police has checked the vacant land in the industrial parks and complexes, and the vacant lots around the residential areas containing debris, garbage, and dry grass to request the local authorities to contact the land management units or the landowner to inform and remind of the fire safety before carrying out the collection or cleanup not to let the combustibles open to be exposed to fires. At the same time, the Fire and Rescue Police of the Tan Uyen town Police recommends and guides people to raise their own awareness of proactive fire prevention, take measures to control the fire when it first arises to prevent the fire from spreading, uphold the spirit of area management for commune and ward police; if a small fire arises, they will mobilize on-site forces to carry out the work of extinguishing and preventing fire from spreading. Recently, a grass fire in Uyen Hung ward was coordinated by the ward police with grassroots forces and people to quickly extinguish.
In the past 3 months, the inspection of fire safety for companies, enterprises, production and business establishments and households has been regularly carried out by the Tan Uyen town Police in coordination with the Fire Prevention and Control Division of the provincial Police. Lieutenant Colonel Phan Van Sang added: “The functional force has inspected nearly 170 facilities to detect and make records of violations of fire safety conditions on nearly 150 cases; of which, 220 cases were with the omission of recommendations with a total expected fine of more than VND 7,770 billion. Besides, the unit has issued a decision to temporarily suspend 75 establishments, and suspend 20 establishments for serious violations. The inspection and handling in accordance with the law will increase deterrence and educate the owners' awareness in ensuring fire prevention and fighting safety.
