Focusing on mobilizing all resources to achieve goal of eradicating temporary and dilapidated houses

Early January 14, Vo Van Minh, Vice Secretary of provincial Party Committee and Chairman of provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting of provincial Steering Committee for the implementation of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. The meeting was attended by Nguyen Van Danh, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee and leaders of departments, sectors, and localities within the province.

An overview of the meeting

Reporting at the meeting, provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs stated that there are currently 31 revolutionary contributors, 577 poor households and households in difficult circumstances in need of support to build new or repair their houses. The total estimated funding required for supporting the construction and repair of 577 houses for poor households is VND44.65 billion. Additionally, Binh Duong has been tasked with supporting two provinces, Nghe An and Bac Lieu, to implement the program, with a total funding of VND 90 billion.

At the meeting, representatives from various departments, sectors and localities also reported on the progress of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for those in need of housing assistance. They also discussed obstacles during the process of implementing the program to eradicate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province.

Concluding the meeting, provincial People's Committee Chairman Vo Van Minh proposed provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to finalize a plan for the implementation of the program, clearly assigning responsibilities to departments, sectors, associations and mass organizations, especially in mobilizing resources for the program. Provincial Red Cross Society, other mass associations and localities should share the responsibility and organize fundraising activities to support housing for the targeted groups in the province as well as assisting the provinces of Bac Lieu and Nghe An. The province will further support localities in implementing the plan to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for revolutionary contributors and the poor. However, localities must first proactively carry out this task well.
