This bookcase came into being because of fondness for books of elderly men in 6th Quarter Elderly Association, especially Mr. Nguyen Huynh and Mr. Nguyen Thien Ngon. Mr. Nguyen Huynh is the former Department of Culture – Information Deputy Director, former Propaganda Education Committee Deputy Director of earlier Song Be province, Mr. Nguyen Thien Ngon is a retired teacher. The creation of a bookcase to serve reading need of local people was nurtured by these two men in many years. Mr. Huynh contributed a large quantity of books, in which there are many valuable books collected in many years. In addition, as a official working for cultural sector for 20 years, Mr. Huynh has a wide circle of acquaintances, which is an advantage to mobilize many book donors, such as: Huong Trang bookstore, Hong An bookstore, Binh Duong Television Station, etc.. Notably, provincial Library presented over 100 books and instructed these elderly in book classification, arrangement and management. Since the establishment, the bookcase has served nearly 60 readers and book-borrowers. Ms. Le Thi Thanh Hong, Phu Hoa ward Elderly Association Chairwoman, said, as knowing about bookcase foundation, she was worried about no funding and management of the bookcase. But then the two men collected many books, and received positive response from many people, she was happy, because this was a good model not only helping elderly people to cultivate mind but also serving people’s needs of recreation and learning.The two elderly said, the idea of this bookcase came from Learning and following HCM’s moral example movement, and was for people to learn about guidelines, policies and laws of the Party, State.Hopefully, the love for books of these the elderly in 6th quarter, Phu Hoa ward, TDM ward will receive support, contributions for the bookcase to be complete, serving mental recreation needs of old people as well as improve cultural standards of local people.Reported by D.Le – Translated by Ngoc Huynh
