Lieutenant Colonel Phan Minh Tuan, Deputy Head of Environmental Police Department under Binh Duong Police, said Environmental Police force had a plan to cooperate with functional agencies to simultaneously launch propagation, communication, inspection and strict handle violations of food safety.
After an inspection of pork roll production establishment in My Phuoc Ward, Ben Cat Town, the functional force discovered at the time of inspection, workers did not wear proper clothes; pork rolls wereprocessed right on the floor, finished rolls were also put on the floor, not ensuring food safety. The inspection team made a record of the violations, and propagated regulations on food safety for remedy.
The interdisciplinary inspection squad, including Environmental Police, Market Management, Veterinary, and Food Hygiene Office, simultaneously examined wholesale markets. In fact, in these markets, some cases still did not meet the requirements of food hygiene and safety, grounds were wet, food items were sold right next to fresh food stalls like meat, fish ... Through quick test, the functional force detected a many food samples using banned substances in processing, affecting consumer health.
Nguyen Thanh Danh, Market Chief Controller, Binh Duong Market Management Office, said that their team concentrated on product labels, production date, expiry date as well as other criteria for food safety ... "In addition, we also conducted on-site rapid inspection to quickly detect foods affected by banned substances, food processing that affect consumers' health”, said Mr. Danh.
On this occasion, the interdisciplinary inspection team also conducted comprehensive inspection at supermarkets, food shops across the province for items and necessities for Tet, such as confectionery and jam, wine, beer, frozen food, agricultural products, vegetables… and detected, prevented and strictly handled violations of contraband goods possession and inferior goods, expired products, and food safety violations according to laws.
Mr. Danh said that people buying goods during Tet holidays should pay attention to brand labels, whether the information attached to the product was sufficient or not, absolutely not buy products that were distorted, especially, directly check products to see if they were rotten or damaged.
