On a weekend day at the park in Neighborhood 5 of Phu My Ward, the CPV branch, executive committee, front work committee, and people's movement launched a campaign to plant and take care of green trees. Ms. Than Thi Nguyet, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ward 5, shared: "We don't have to wait until the Party Committee of Thu Dau Mot launches the campaign 'Each citizen plants at least one tree' for us to start. This movement has been implemented in the ward for a long time...". Mr. Tran Ngoc Lang, a resident of Ward 5, also shared: "In Ward 5, the movement of planting trees, as well as street cleaning and environmental protection, is very strong. The residents are also enthusiastic in response. Thanks to that, many roads in the ward have become very attractive."
Speaking about the green coverage movement, Mrs. Nguyen Thi My Khanh, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Phu My Ward, said that 63 public land areas in the ward include 23 small plots of land left over after construction projects. In recent years, the ward has launched the construction of parks and the planting of green trees. And in 2024, in accordance with the city's green coverage movement, the ward has planted nearly 6,000 more green trees. People in the ward are also actively planting more green trees on vacant land around their houses.
A canal in neighborhood 1, Tuong Binh Hiep ward, along the newly invested riverbank road by the city, the ward has planted 2 rows of coconut trees and loc vung (a local trees symbolizing wealth). The winding road is beautiful like a painting. Mrs. Huynh Thi Thanh Hien, Vice Chairwoman of Tuong Binh Hiep ward People's Committee, shared: "When the riverbank road is invested and more trees are planted, it truly looks no different from the poetic scenery in the Western region of rivers and water."

The green coverage story has been a long-standing concern of Thu Dau Mot city, specifically embodied in Resolution No. 17-NQ/TU, dated November 14, 2016, of the provincial Party Committee of Binh Duong on the continued construction and development of Thu Dau Mot urban area, phase 2016-2020 and the following years. Chairwoman Nguyen Thu Cuc of Thu Dau Mot city People's Committee said that the city has been focusing on vigorously developing urban green spaces and increasing public spaces to serve the community. The current urban green space ratio is 14.62m2 per person, with a total green coverage area of about 44.47% of the city's territory, including 121 parks and flower gardens covering an area of 364.51 hectares, and over 23,000 trees planted and managed.
To become a green and friendly city, the Party Committee of Thu Dau Mot city has launched a comprehensive campaign involving the political system, civil servants, party members, union members, businesses, and the people to respond to the greening of urban areas and strive to build a green and friendly city in the period from 2024 to 2030 and the following years.
Accordingly, the city's general goal is to enhance "green coverage" to create a green, clean, and beautiful living environment in public areas, residential areas, and other urban areas; at the same time, it aims to mobilize high levels of participation and active involvement from all residents living in the city to jointly implement it.

In 2024, Thu Dau Mot City will enhance propaganda and mobilize people to participate in the movement "Each person plants at least one tree" with a total number of more than 363,400 trees. In 2025, the city continues to encourage residents to continue caring for planted trees and to continue participating in the movement "Each person plants at least one green tree" with a total number of approximately 400,000 additional trees planted. In the period of 2026-2030 and the following years, the city will mobilize residents to take care of planted trees and participate in the movement of "Each person plants at least one more green tree" with a total of over 2 million additional trees. The green coverage rate will reach 55% or more of the total land area of the city.
