For a stable life of poor women and children

In 2012, the emulation movement of provincial Women’s Union has been marked by the emulation work named “Towards poor women and children” with the content of “Building compassion houses for poor women and awarding scholarships to poor-but-excellent pupils”. The emulation work has helped many poor women secure stable accommodations and helped many poor-but-excellent pupils further pursue their learning.

Women enjoying stable accommodations

The emulation work “Towards poor women and children” has helped many poor women enjoy stable accommodations. Bui Thi Kim Phuong in Tan Uyen district’s Tan Phuoc Khanh township is a typical example for this.

Phuong is a disable woman with extremely difficult circumstance. Knowing this, Tan Phuoc Khanh township’s Red Cross Society mobilized provincial Businesswomen’s Club to hand over a house of compassion worth nearly VND40mln to the needy woman.

Giving strength to pupils

In addition to poor women, the emulation work “Towards poor women and children” has also paid attention to poor-but-excellent pupils, helping them further pursue their learning.

Nguyen Thi Phuong, vice-chairwoman of provincial Women’s Union said that the movement of “Building compassion houses for poor women” were well realized by provincial Women’s Unions at all levels over the past time. But now, there are still many women and pupils in need of help.

In a bid to help reduce difficulties of poor women and poor-but-excellent, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union has launched the emulation work “Towards poor women and children” with the content of “Building compassion houses for poor women and awarding scholarships to poor-but-excellent pupils”.

The emulation work has also received enthusiastic response from provincial Women’s Unions at all levels together with agencies and units across the province. So far, provincial Women’s Union has mobilized units to build 56 houses of compassion for poor women and award 49 scholarships to poor-but-excellent pupils with a total value of VND1.8bln.
