Dedicating to work
After 12 years of holding the position of chairwoman of Triumph International Vietnam Co.Ltd in Song Than 1 IP, Di An town, Mai Thi Hong always completes her tasks excellently. According to Hong, trade union cadres need to dedicate to job and have high responsibility and dare to fight against negative behaviours. In addition, they must protect legitimate rights and interests of laborers, especially female workforce.
From awareness to action, Hong well implements her role in giving good advices to the company directorate to protect legitimate rights and interests of workers. Specifically, she often holds inspections on implementing labor code, labor safety and hygiene, disseminates and mobilizes workers to join in cultural, artistic and sport movements or emulation movements. Especially, she positively joins in steering women's affairs at grassroot level by actively inspecting and controlling implementation of allowances, pushing up improvements of working environment, reproduction healthcare and periodical health check-up for female laborers, paying gift visits to sick and poor workers and more.
By those contributions to grassroot trade union and development of the company, Hong was just honored as typical woman cadre of 2014 by the provincial labor union.
Going with laborers
Ngo Thi Hanh Nhung, vice chairwoman of grassroot trade union of Apparel Far Eastern VN in VSIP I is appreciated as an enthusiastic cadre. Considering dissemination as an important tasks for laborers, she gives good advices to the grassroot trade union to hold many dissemination sessions on legal policies for workforce as well as organize goods selling phases with cheap prices for workers in a bid to share difficulties with laborers.
Nhung shared that becoming a trade union cadre is not simple, especially in the sensible time. Trade union cadre must listen to laborers' ideas and simultaneously expurgate information to petition it to the company directorate in a bid to satisfy laborers' and directorate's requirements. All of these factors require talent and dedication of trade union cadres.
Firm mainstay for laborers
Shyang Hung Cheng now has about 8,500 laborers, most of them are female laborers. Therefore, taking care of female laborers becomes a top concern of the company trade union organization. Huong discussed the company grassroot trade union to build a kindergarten for laborers' children as well as mobilized the company trade union to sign collective labor agreements with high allowances for workers. Specifically, laborers with children under 6 will enjoy assistance of VND75,000/child/month while female laborers enjoy reproduction health check-up twice a year.
Not only ensuring laborers' rights and interests, Huong becomes a firm mainstay for needy laborers. She mobilizes the company staff to contribute more than VND 90mil to help sick workers.
Thanks to timely care of grassroot trade union, laborers attach more to the company. Lastly, Huong was awarded the title of typical trade union female cadre of 2014 by the provincial labor union.
