In 2019, provincial Women’s Union selected the theme of “Safety for women and children” for its activities. Provincial Women’s Union also maintained 366 reliable addresses with 1,385 members, 4 “women with the law” clubs with 1,118 members; promoted the Action Month on gender equality and prevention of gender-based violence under the theme of “Stop violence against women and children” among its branches.
In addition, provincial Women’s Unions at all levels organized talk shows disseminating legal knowledge on gender equality, prevention of gender-based violence for officials and members; held a conference propagandizing the Vietnam Law Day (November 11) and the Law on Children, talk shows in response to the Action Month on gender equality with the contents of “Prevention of violence against women and children, “Prevention of domestic violence”; disseminated prevention of violence at school…, thereby helping women and children raise their skills against sexual abuse, violence…
Nguyen Thi Thu Hong, Chairwoman of provincial Women’s Union said that with the theme of “Safety for women and children” was implemented deeply and widely by provincial Women’s Unions at all levels. They also made efforts in seeking solutions for some issues relating to gathering members; improving the quality of models, clubs, groups…; took better good of women and children’s legitimate rights and interests.
Helping women in economic development
One of highlights done by provincial Women’s Unions at all levels was to support women in economic development over the past time. Accordingly, they strengthened solutions helping women in economic development. They have so far mobilized 5,909 well-off women to help 4,988 women get more than VND15.4billion in loan without interest rate in order to develop home-based business.
Provincial Women’s Unions at all levels also continued maintaining support activities for women in collective economic development; set up 5 cooperatives on agriculture and services, 12 cooperative groups under the Decree No.151 and 5 cooperative groups…In addition, provincial Women’s Union instructed its branches to help cooperatives, cooperative groups get loans, especially from the fund of provincial Alliance of Cooperatives…
Noticeably, provincial Women’s Union continued taking synchronous solutions to help women escape poverty; paid attention to improving capacity of those who are in charge of poverty reduction…, thereby contributing to helping 1,507 poor women, 1,244 near-poor female-headed households and 160 poor ones rise up out of poverty.
Mrs.Hong said that provincial Women’s Union will implement 2020’s theme of “Safety for women and children” with focus on prevention of child abuse; organize activities on education of political thought and in celebration of great holidays; prepare for Women’s Union congresses at all levels towards the 13th national Women’s Union congress; launch practical emulation stages in association with studying and following late President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and lifestyle…
