On the morning of November 22, the Provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, held a launching ceremony for the Action Month for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2024. This event kicked off a high-profile communication campaign across the province to spread the message “Gender equality is the key to eliminating gender-based violence”.

Mr. Trinh Duc Tai, Director of the Provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, and delegates attend the event to create messages for gender equality.

Attending the launching ceremony were Mr. Trinh Duc Tai, Director of the Provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Deputy Head of the Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women; together with representatives of leaders of departments, branches and members of the Committee for the Advancement of Women at all levels in the province.

Spread the message of eliminating gender violence

Early in the morning, hundreds of members of the Committee for the Advancement of Women at all levels were present at the Provincial Political School to attend the launching ceremony of the Action Month for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2024. This is the opening event for the peak communication campaign taking place from November 15 to December 15 throughout the province.

Gender equality is a fundamental human right and the foundation of a sustainable and prosperous society. However, the biggest barrier to gender equality is gender-based violence (violence directed against a person based on that person's gender), a problem that not only causes physical and mental harm but also hinders the overall development of society.

Launching the month of action, Mr. Ha Minh Trung, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, said that with the theme "Ensuring social security, increasing power and creating opportunities for women and girls to achieve gender equality and eliminate gender-based violence", the action month aims to spread the message "Gender equality is the key to eliminating gender-based violence", enhancing the role and responsibility of all levels and sectors in the province.

“Recently, Binh Duong has implemented many policies and programs to enhance gender equality and protect the legitimate rights of women and girls. Notably, the rate of women participating in Party committees at all levels reached 30.52%; the rate of women elected to the 15th National Assembly reached 20%; the rate of women elected to People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term reached 31.93%. In particular, the sex ratio at birth is controlled at 105 boys/100 girls, the number of domestic violence cases has decreased over the years; 100% of victims and perpetrators of violence are counseled and supported," Mr. Ha Minh Trung emphasized.

The secret to success at work and happiness at home

Within the program, the Organizing Committee spent time talking about the topic "Gender equality - the secret to success in the workplace, happiness in the family" by Dr. Pham Thi Thuy, Lecturer of the National Academy of Public Administration, Ho Chi Minh City Branch. The talk attracted many discussion opinions from the attendees towards changing the personal behavior of listeners and participants.

Delegates discuss the topic "Gender equality - the secret to success at work and happiness at home".

Speaking to members of the Committee for the Advancement of Women at all levels, Dr. Pham Thi Thuy emphasized that up to now, when talking about gender equality, everyone thinks about women demanding their rights. “In fact, when talking about gender equality, it is not only for women but also for men and other genders. Nowadays, all genders are equal and need to be protected equally,” said Dr. Thuy.

Family is the cell of society, building a happy and sustainable family is a solution to all problems of modern society. Research shows that people in modern society still value family but are facing an imbalance between career and family, and gender equality is the key to unlocking the knots in relationships.

“We need to continue our efforts to promote coordination among different levels, sectors, and mass organizations, while encouraging active participation from the community in social development. It's important to ensure balance for each individual. I hope these messages truly spread, helping to cultivate noble spiritual values and establish a safe, equal, and joyful living environment for everyone, leaving no one behind".
