On Dec. 22 of every year, the primary school’s young pioneer union holds a ceremony of opening piggy banks. After the school headmistress’ speech of tradition of raising piggy banks, some pupils on behalf of the school students open piggy banks.
As an annual movement, numerous pupils of the school have participated in the movement. Founded in 1994, the movement reached encouraging results to give strength for needy pupils in pursuing their study.
Most of the school pupils are from immigrant families living in boarding houses. By the interdependence spirit, the school young pioneer union’s members save their food expenses to help poor classmates.
In the school year of 2010-2011, the union collected over VND7.9mil to grant clothes, books for excellent-but-poor pupils.
To lottery tickets for poor friends
Upholding the done achievements in the piggy bank movement, the union in 2000 launched a movement themed “Lottery for poor classmates”. This is a useful playground for the school pupils.
Money from selling lottery tickets for pupils will be earmarked for poor pupils. In the 2009-2010, the school organizing board spent money from selling lottery tickets to grant 44 gifts to poor pupils.
Vo Thi Thanh Hai, chief of the school young pioneer union, said “the union excels its activities. Aside from movements of piggy bank and lottery, the union builds a movement of friendly schools and positive students to raise students’ charity spirit”.
