Taking place on Aug. 17-21, 2013, Binh Duong workers’ market-day 2013 co-held by the provincial Supportive Center for Young Workers and the Southern Trade Promotion Co.Ltd. attracted a number of young laborers and created a healthy playground for young workers after tired working hours.
The market-day included more than 40 businesses’ 60 stalls displaying Vietnamese high quality products and offered a special promotion for workers and customers through the program themed “Gold hour for Vietnamese goods” at 5-6p.m.
Aside from a 10-40% discount for workers, the program granted 30 gifts each worth VND300,000 to poor workers working at Vietnam-Singapore IP and 10 scholarships each worth VND1mil to needy laborers’ children as well as offered consultancies on reproduction healthcare, marriage and family and free health check-ups and medicines for 200 underprivileged workers, held talk-shows on traffic culture, aspiration and gender for young workers. Along with the mentioned significant activities, young workers enjoyed folk games and contests on flower arrangement, calligraphy writing and culinary and many more.
Assessing these activities, Pham Hong Thang, vice secretary of the provincial Youth Union said that the market-day is the first pilot model held on socialization fund to bring interests on material and spirit for laborers and is the bridge to share difficulties with Vietnamese businesses and local young workers.
Possibly speaking, aside from useful playgrounds for young workers such as week for young workers, assistance for laborers, free health check-ups and many more, the market-day contributed to gather and develop young worker force as well as to create a attachment between local youths and alien youngsters, helping young workers feel secure in mind to work and live in the province.
