Early Jan.18, Dau Tieng district’s Red Cross Society forwarded a conference to sum up its activities in 2010 and honor golden hearts for their contributions to the poor.
Thanks to having contributions from golden hearts, the district’s Red Cross Society last year took good care of the lives of the poor. Particularly, the district’s Red Cross Society and its affiliates realized the “Tet for the poor” program with 2,198 gifts worth more than VND596mln given; offered help to 12,292 needy people with a total value of nearly VND504mln; mobilized donors to donate 16 wheelchairs to the disabled, provide regular aid for 1,851 people, build 6 compassion houses; awarded 367 scholarships worth more than VND86mln to poor-but-excellent pupils…
The district’s Red Cross Society also organized 4 voluntary blood donation stages with 601 units of blood given or 120% of the projection; cooperated with relevant agencies to provide free medical check-ups, treatment and eye surgeries for poor patients; especially maintained the “charity kitchen” program, supplying meals for 18,000 poor patients at the district’s General Hospital.
