On April 28th, at Binh Loi bridge pier in Binh Thanh district, HCM City, the Ministry of Transport in collaboration with People's Committees of Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong province held the groundbreaking ceremony of the project upgrading Binh Loi rail bridge and Saigon river flow to Ben Suc port.
The project was funded by BOT and budget capital with a total investment of VND1,302 billion, including VND156.3 billion from HCM City for land clearance and resettlement; VND300 billion of interest-free loan from Binh Duong province; VND674 billion of commercial loans; and equity from joint venture between Do Thi Xanh GUD Company and STD Vietnam Company.

Binh Loi rail bridge is 478,6m long, has navigational clearance of 50x7m, rail track of 1.435m with designed speed of 100km/h, designed loading capacity of T16. Saigon river flow from Binh Loi rail bridge to Ben Suc port, Dau Tieng district is 71km long, has grade II of waterway. Duration of the project is 16 months from the contract signing date.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Van Nam, Chairman of Binh Duong province People's Committee, thanked the Government and the Ministry of Transport, HCM City People's Committee, and relevant agencies for investing in upgrading project of Binh Loi rail bridge and Saigon river flow. The project was to clear the important waterway route passing famous revolutionary relics, urban industrial areas in the Southern key economic clusters to important seaports, and develop waterway transport system.
Binh Duong province People's Committee and relevant agencies will create all favorable conditions for the construction company to complete the project on schedule. Besides, constructors need to assemble resources, implement rational construction solutions to ensure traffic safety and avoid river erosion.
