At the beginning of the school year, besides the joy of going to school for children, parents, especially those in working families, are proned to plenty of worrisome. Many have to save money to buy books, clothes, and donations at the beginning of the year. It is really a burden for them all. Understanding such sentiments, trade unions at all levels in the province have organized many activities to support and encourage workers.
At the 19th study promotion scholarship award ceremony of Thai Binh Investment Joint Stock Company at Binh Hoa ward in Thuan An city for children of the company's employees with outstanding achievements of learning in the 2021-2022 school year. In a joyful atmosphere, students and parents could not hide their happiness on receiving such meaningful gifts.
Ms. Le Thi Khanh Chau from An Giang province happily said: “I have worked at the company for 5 years, but every year, the company gives me the allowances. I feel very happy and find this to be a very meaningful. In the upcoming new school year, we have a lot of things to take care of for our children, so if we support them more or less, we are so happy."
As one of the students honored to receive a scholarship from the company, Nguyen Thanh Quynh Anh said: “I am very happy and honored to receive a allowance at the beginning of the new school year from the company where my parents work. This will be the motivation for me to work harder and study better in the next school year.”
Talking to us, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Trade Union of Thai Binh Investment Joint Stock Company said: “This is the 19th consecutive year that the company's study promotion scholarship fund has awarded scholarships to children. This is an activity to recognize, motivate and encourage the children to make efforts in studying, be good children and become useful to the society. At the same time, we also hope to contribute to sharing a part of the burden for employees before the new school year, especially after a year of being affected by the COVID-19 epidemic and facing the commodity price hiking.
To be side by side with students
Binh Duong has just experienced a school year with tremendous problems due to the prolonged impact of the COVID-19 epidemic. According to statistics, in the school year of 2021-2022, more than 2,000 disadvantaged students in Binh Duong cannot continue to go to school, of which more than 200 are orphaned. In the past school year, the drastic direction of the provincial People's Committee and the cooperation and contribution of agencies, individuals, organizations and businesses have helped the province's education and training sector to step by step overcome difficulties and reap a lot of encouraging results.
The start of the new school year is also the time when local authorities, agency levels, departments, unions and benefactors carry out many activities like awarding scholarships, gifts, textbooks, learning tools among others in the efforts to carry out the task of taking care and supporting the students to go to school. Many gifts were given to the children as to encourage them and their families in the new school year.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhat Hang, Director of local Education and Training, said that as the new school year of 2022-2023 is about to start amid the prolonging and existing losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in the past time affects the school entrance of disadvantaged students. Following the success of the program helping school going in the school year of 2021-2022, the local Department of Education and Training had an open letter calling on agencies, the State, organizations, businesses and individuals across all regions of the country to support, help and offer more opportunities for children to participate in learning. Agencies, the State, organizations, businesses, and individuals can support in cash, scholarships, clothes, learning tools or other forms of study promotion to serve learning of the children at schools. After receiving the donation, the Department of Education and Training will transfer such donation directly to the students.
Each student who is chosen by agencies and organizations to be awarded with the scholarships has different circumstances. The scholarships awarded at the beginning of the school year have shared the burden for many families. The value of each scholarship may be more or less depending on the contributions of benefactors and the reality of the units, but above all, it is a great spiritual gift that the children receive as a source of encouragement for them to firmly go to school, to study hard, and to continue the beautiful dreams of their future.
