Health sector surpasses all 3 targets assigned by the NA

Early January 9, the Ministry of Health held an online conference with localities to implement medical work in 2024, in attendance of Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai. In Binh Duong, the event was attended by Assoc.Prof.- Dr. Nguyen Lan Hieu, Director of Hanoi Medical University Hospital, Director of Binh Duong provincial General Hospital.

The report at the conference said that last year, the health sector exceeded all 3 targets assigned by the National Assembly (NA), with 12.5 doctors, 32 hospital beds per 10,000 people, 93.2% of the population participating in health insurance, achieving and exceeding 7 out of 9 targets assigned by the Government. Policy institutions and legal documents were reviewed, amended and supplemented, not only resolving immediate problems, but also putting forward long-term development policies of the sector.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai requested that in 2024, the health sector needs to continue perfecting institutions, building legal documents, focusing on completing the development of the Law amending, supplementing a number of articles of the Pharmacy Law and the Decree guiding the law; continue completing the revised Health Insurance Law project; urgently research and develop the Law on Disease Prevention, the Law on Medical Devices, the Law on Food Safety, complete the documents of the Population Law Project... The health sector needs to ensure drugs, medical supplies, vaccines; improve the health insurance coverage rate and capacity to provide health care services to people at all levels. Especially, the sector needs to promote drug production, gradually replacing imported drugs; develop medical digital platforms, have incentive regimes, attracting human resources...
