Heart-warming Mid-Autumn Festival brought to children of poverty

The jubilant atmosphere of Mid-Autumn Festival has overwhelmed every corner of the nation as the all-level unions and sectors have engaged to bring children living in poverty and hardship the meaningful gifts and a good range of activities that inspired a joyful and heart-warming festival.

Mid-Autumn Festival brought to children

In a good fortnight, youths in Tuong Binh Hiep ward of Thu Dau Mot city have well spent their free time making 1,000 traditional lanterns gifting to local children as the spiritual presentation with this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival. Mr. Lam Quoc Huy, Deputy Youth Union Secretary of Tuong Binh Hiep ward, informed of the financial resources backed by Piggy Bank Fund of the Youths, social donations, and efforts of youths making lanterns as gifts to children in a bid to bring Mid-Autumn Festival to them. One thousand lanterns in all have been well distributed to 8 grassroots for festive activities within the quarters as well as Mid-Autumn Festival organized by projected youth cadres for children of workers residing in the localities.

In order for every child to have a meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival, the Red Cross at all levels in the province, in recent days, have also actively mobilized resources to take care of poor and disadvantaged children. In Phu Giao district, all levels of the Red Cross have mobilized benefactors to donate gifts to organize the Mid-Autumn Festival for local children. Accordingly, in the evenings of September 5 and 6, the district Red Cross coordinated with the its Youth Union and Hue Minh Pagoda to organize the Full moon festival evening for disadvantaged children. In addition to 1,200 mid-autumn gifts that were given to them, the program also awarded 20 scholarships to disadvantaged students to help them go to school and 20 VND-300,000 gifts to disadvantaged people in the area.

Mrs. Ho Thu Thuy, Chairwoman of Phu Giao district Red Cross, shared the agreements on very practical activities taking care of disadvantaged children during this year's Mid-Autumn Festival. In addition to the district Red Cross, the Red Cross of communes also called upon people to donate resources and gifts to give to disadvantaged children and children of local workers.

Caring for orphans and disadvantaged children

With the desire to bring joy and laughter to children, especially orphans, disabled and disadvantaged children, the Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients in the province on September 7 organized the "Mid-Autumn Festival - Supporting students to overcome difficulties to go to school in the 2022-2023 school year" which gave thousands of moon cakes to districts, towns and cities in mid-autumn festival for orphans, disabled and disadvantaged children in the locality. In addition, 12 bicycles of about VND 3.5 million each and 116 scholarships of VND 1 million each were given to children in private orphanages and children, families of people with disabilities, poor and disadvantaged patients.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh, Chairwoman of the provincial Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients, said that during the Mid-Autumn Festival and the new school year of 2022-2023, the provincial Association has campaigned and donated 4,500 cakes for mid-autumn festival in the districts, towns, cities and social protection establishments of raising private orphans; at the same time, it supported the provincial Youth Union to organize the Mid-Autumn Festival for children in charitable classes and workers' children with a total value of VND 490 million. In order to greater facilitate children to go to school in the new school year of 2022-2023, the provincial Association also mobilized and donated 32 bicycles and 246 scholarships at a total value of VND 358 million to disabled and orphaned children, children in families of people with disabilities, and poor patients to enjoy the mid-autumn festival and prepare for schools.

For poor and disadvantaged children whose lives are not full, the care and attention of all levels, branches, unions, organizations and benefactors have brought them laughter and sentimental moments depicted by the lovely lanterns, ‘childhood’ cakes, and sharing gifts that they received as the greatest encouragement for a brighter future of the their best endeavors.
