Helping workers from flooding-hit provinces bring Spring to their homeland

The provincial Labor Union just announced an assistance of nearly 800 coach tickets for immigrant workers from flooding-hit central provinces. This support is to help immigrant workers bring Spring to their homeland. Among the beneficiaries, most of them are from provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh.

Aside from local labor union, the provincial Industrial Parks’ Trade Union also launched the assistance. Bui Thanh Nhan, chairman of the provincial Industrial Parks’ trade union, said the trade union grants 170 coach tickets worth more than VND120mil to trade unionists whose families suffered heavy losses in the flooding 2010. Besides, grassroot trade unions at companies have also launched the program of supporting coach tickets for immigrant workers.

Nhan also introduced a long list of poor immigrant workers in dire need of coach ticket assistance but owing to shortage of budget, only 170 cases are supported. The trade union hopes that businesses give a helping hand to poor immigrant workers, shared Nhan.

Nguyen Hong Anh, personnel director of Binh Duong Garment One-member Company, said “The company now has 2,500 workers, 80% of whom are from other provinces. Despite difficulties, the company maintains its tradition of taking immigrant workers to their homeland for Tet. Specifically, the company hired 25 buses worth over VND1.1bil to take about 1,000 immigrant workers to their homeland for Tet”.

Hong Anh boasted that the company just delivered 2 clothes containers of early-year orders. The company’s signed orders can conduct till the end of second quarter of 2011 and the year of 2011 is an optimistic year in production and export. The company announced Tet bonus for laborers with an average bonus of VND5mil per worker.
