Heroine - martyr Doan Thi Lien forever alive in the hearts of the Vietnamese people

Compared with many years ago, the land of Chanh Phu Hoa in Ben Cat Town today has changed a lot. Large asphalt roads, more factories have contributed to embellish the upward development of this countryside. This is also a land rich in the revolutionary struggle tradition, marking many generations of the homeland sacrificing for the nation. In order to protect the homeland, many excellent locals set out to join the revolution, bravely struggling and falling down at a very young age; including Hero of the People's Armed Forces - martyr Doan Thi Lien (1944-1966)

Monument Doan Thi Lien park, where educates the younger generation about the heroic fighting tradition of generations of their fathers

 Join the revolution

Those who have the opportunity to come to Chanh Phu Hoa People's Committee to contact and work can see the monument - Doan Thi Lien Park built right next to it. This project was built by the Youth Union members of the province and the provincial budget, inaugurated to serve the people from July 2010. According to the evaluation of local leaders, this project has extremely important historical and political significance; It is a place of traditional education, study and daily life that contributes to improving the cultural and spiritual life of the youth systems and the local people. Every citizen coming here to learn about the history, about the example of Heroine of the People's Armed Forces Doan Thi Lien, will understand more and more the heroic tradition of the province's Youth Volunteers (TNXP), so that there is a striving for learning,

Doan Thi Lien was born in Vinh Tan commune, Tan Uyen Town. Her family has 10 children and she is the seventh daughter. Due to the war, about 1952-1953, her family moved from Vinh Tan to Chanh Phu Hoa commune (strategic hamlet Chanh Phu Hoa). Therefore, the land of Chanh Phu Hoa is considered the "second home" of heroine Doan Thi Lien. Right from the early days, soon witnessed her homeland, her village was invaded by the enemy, so the revolutionary spirit in her person was soon molded and nurtured growing up, becoming a very good girl.

To better understand the heroine - martyr Doan Thi Lien, we met some of her relatives. One of the people we talked to was Doan Van Bo, Lien's youngest younger brother. Mr. Bo shared that when Lien sacrificed him as a child, the image and memories of his sister he could not remember. When growing up, passing back and forth of the siblings in the family, he learned that Lien was a very fast, energetic, beautiful and beautiful girl. He also learned from her teammates to learn more about Lien's revolutionary participation and sacrifice process. Mr. Bo is a person who is burning incense, worshiping Doan Thi Lien and three brothers, sisters (also martyrs) and his parents at home. He said that in addition to the martyrs Doan Thi Lien (Ms Bay), his family has 3 martyrs, that is the martyr Doan Van Right (Mr. Tu), Doan Van Ga (Mr. Nam) and Doan Thi My (Ms. Chin). Her mother was also awarded the title of Vietnamese Heroic Mother by the State.

As a family with a revolutionary tradition, from an early age, she was soon influenced by her family tradition. To join forces with the hometown to fight the enemy, her two brothers (martyrs Doan Van True and Doan Van Ga) soon escaped their families to participate in local revolutionary activities. Therefore, her family was often arrested and harassed by criminals. To avoid their persecution, her family had to move to many places. Living in a situation where her family was pinched, her homeland was suppressed, Lien's revolutionary will was gradually molded. Add to that the deep hatred of the enemy, Ms. Lien soon became enlightened to go on revolution. In 1963-1964, the girl Doan Thi Lien escaped from her family to join revolutionary activities in the guerrilla team of Chanh Phu Hoa commune. Not long after that, she was appointed a deputy team leader. In early 1965, She was assigned the task of commanding a platoon of young civilian firefighters to serve the combat unit in the province. According to the above policy, on April 24, 1965, she commanded a platoon of conspiracy from Thu Dau Mot to march to base R to set up a Southern Liberation Army to conduct the task of "5 volunteers". On December 1, 1965, Doan Thi Lien became the platoon leader, the 112th Battalion of Thu Dau Mot Police named "Phu Loi of hatred".

Better to sacrifice

Although not directly holding a gun, Ms. Lien and her teammates are always on the battlefield to serve in time for the revolution. The duty of the Volunteers is always faced with countless difficulties and hardships, but with her strong will, courage and endurance, Ms. Lien always and her teammates overcome difficulties and stand side by side to perform well the assigned tasks in each battle.

In order to timely receive salaries, ammunition, and treat wounded soldiers, in every battle, soldiers of the volunteer forces always have to closely follow the battlefield. Not holding guns to fight directly, but they also had to cross the rain of bombs and storms to complete the assigned task. At those times, Ms. Lien always thought and encouraged her teammates: "The battlefield is still wounded, the force has not left the battle yet." She herself is always a pioneer, exemplary leading. In the battle against rakes in the north of Be River, the garrison of the unit was hit by enemy artillery. Despite the danger, she managed to break out of the cellar to prepare rice for the army unit. Unfortunately, a soldier who was hit by an enemy bullet fell about 50m from Lien's fortifications. At that moment, she quickly thought in her mind: "Must save my soldiers, not destroy the enemy artillery."

In the rainy season of 1966, the 9th Division coordinated with the 6th Regiment to conduct a battle of intercepting and destroying American motor vehicles on Route 13 at Can Le Bridge (from An Loc to Loc Ninh). When the unit was about to leave the army, she had a serious fever. Therefore, the unit assigned her to stay, but she still insisted on fighting. Finally, she was in the starting lineup. The battle was fierce, the enemy tanks backed by jets, armed helicopters and long-range artillery were fiercely counter-attacked. On the battlefield, many of our soldiers were injured. Not afraid of danger, Ms. Doan Thi Lien and her teammates crawled under enemy fire to search for wounded soldiers. After carrying two wounded soldiers to her shelter, due to the tight tunnel, she temporarily hid behind the mound to prepare to return to the battlefield to find wounded soldiers. Suddenly, a cannonball exploded, Lien has a shrapnel pinned to her back. In the roar of the jet plane, the explosive sound of the sky, the teammates still heard her screaming: "You stormed the battle of wounded soldiers to the tunnel, hurry!". Restraining her pain, she slithered toward the shelter, then called out to her team-mates: "It is better to sacrifice and not let wounded soldiers be wounded a second time." As soon as he finished speaking, a plane crashed and dropped a bomb in the area near the fort. Lien rushed forward, covering her mouth with her small body. A bomb exploded in the mouth of the tunnel, and Ms. Lien was hit by more shrapnel and died. The two wounded soldiers hiding in the basement suffered no further injuries, but witnessed a young girl who volunteered to sacrifice herself to cover her bullets. It was almost noon on July 10, 1966. teammates still hear her shouting: "You stormed the battle to carry wounded soldiers to the tunnel, hurry!" The courageous and heroic action of the female volunteer, Doan Thi Lien and the quote before she fell down: "It is better to sacrifice and not let wounded wounded a second time" quickly spread throughout the battlefield that day. Her heroic actions and sacrifices strengthened and motivated for the young volunteer forces on the battlefields. Her words became an oath and tradition of the Southern Liberation Army forces.
