Hi-tech based animal husbandry is efficient and environmentally friendly

Farmers in Bau Bang district’s Cay Truong commune have felt very secure when getting involved in the model of hi-tech based animal husbandry. This is because along with the support of the local government, this model is efficient and environmentally friendly…

Cooking beans on a fire of beanstalks

Nguyen Van Phuc, the owner of an air-conditioned pig farmstead in Cay Truong commune’s Ong Thanh hamlet said that he has applied sci-tech advancements in the model of breeding pigs for better results.

His pig farmstead is designed by CP Co. with air-conditioning in a closed process. Like the folk statement of “Cooking beans on a fire of beanstalks”, all the waste from the pigs will be used to produce biogas for the pig farmstead’s power generation system. This has helped him save costs for better competitiveness in the market.

Stable economic efficiency

His family can secure a profit of VND200mln after a period of five-month breeding. According to him, a pig farmstead of 2,000 sq.m requires VND2bln in investment capital under the hi-tech based animal husbandry model. It brings breeders an annual profit of between VND400mln and VND500mln. Calculatingly, its economic efficiency is higher than the harvest of 5 hectares of rubber trees.

The whole commune of Cay Truong is now home to more than 30 hi-tech based animal husbandry farmsteads on efficient operation. Thanks to the campaign on new rural construction, the local farmers have had a chance to study and sort out suitable models for better results. The local government has also given support on relevant procedures as Cay Truong is zoned as a concentrated animal husbandry area. Noticeably, pig farmsteads herein are far away from residential areas and designed with biogas systems, helping save costs and protect the environment.

Bui Duc Trung, Secretary of Cay Truong communal Party Committee cum Chairman of the communal People’s Committee said that after three-year implementation of the campaign on new rural construction, the commune sent 28 cadres and 70 farmers to training courses organized by the province’s sector of agriculture and rural development; teamed up with relevant agencies to organize 23 training courses on sci-tech transfer for nearly 990 people; opened 9 vocational training classes for rural laborers…The rate of rural laborers trained in the commune has so far reached more than 41%. Especially, the commune’s hi-tech based agricultural models have brought stable economic efficiency, thereby contributing to raising the lives of the local farmers.
