As a remote commune in Tan Uyen district, activities for the community of Hieu Liem communal youth union have over years made good impression on residential community. The youth union has been assessed as one of excellent units for many consecutive years.
With the goal of taking all children to go to schools, the communal youth union has over the past 5 years mobilized and cooperated with local mass bodies to grant gifts and scholarships to local poor, disabled students on the new academic years. This is one of highlighted activities, making good impression on local residents and showing assistance and attention to unlucky children.
In 2010 alone, the communal youth union mobilized to grant more than 100 gifts, 1,500 notebooks and 5 scholarships to local excellent-but-poor students. The communal youth union secretary Nguyen Anh Linh, said “the program for children launched by the youth union is given top priority in yearly action plans. As a remote commune with restriction on entertainment, the youth union holds significant playgrounds for local kids on holidays”.
Aside from helping poor kids, the youth union has paid much attention to helping poor youths and unionists, program on building charity houses for needy youths and unionists has showed a strong solidarity in the locality.
Regarding volunteer work for the community, Linh added that the local youths and unionists are always vanguard in activities and makes movements luring the participation of numerous local youngsters. In the past Youth Month, the youth union in cooperation with local authorities built rest-rooms for students, winning great support from local residents.
Despite restriction on quantity of local youths and unionists, local youths and unionists always pioneer in humanitarian blood donation campaigns. Many of them have donated their blood for 7-8 times.
