Ho Lang resonant glory

Among revolution bases in the province, Ho Lang base was holding the special meaning as a place for shelter and operations of local revolutionists during the resistance wars, contributing greatly to the cause of struggling and liberating the nation.

The main gate of Ho Lang Revolutionary Base and Ecology Resort has been newly constructed

A symbol determination

Positioned in 4 kilometers from the center of Di An city, the Ho Lang remain and ecology resort is located in the locality of Tan Phuoc quarter in Tan Binh ward. Being led by an officer of Tan Binh ward around the place, we got to the base in a late afternoon of September. The black clouds was ready for a shower as we got to the main gate.

Being near military headquarters of the puppet government, Ho Lang held one of the strategic positions to cover a large area of the former Di An district and Bien Hoa city, especially, the military airport of Bien Hoa which was about 5 kilometers from Bien Hoa city. Ho Lang was a natural woods on a hill surrounded by springs and channels which getting around was hidden. Thus, from very early time, Ho Lang had become a place for setting up our revolutionist base.

In the two resistance wars against the French colony and the US Army, Ho Lang base had won the hearts of local people as a symbol of determination for revolutionary cause of local people. In the years of resistance war against the French colony, the land of Tan Binh (now Tan Hiep – Binh Tri) was considered as a base for revolutionists. Of the region, Ho Lang was a major base with great contribution to the struggling cause of Di An people and military.

After 1954, the locality had strongly developed revolutionary activities. The Ho Lang woods of Tan Binh was advantageous for our forces to set base for fighting. Various fights had been incurred at the place. Backed by the fighting pits, in February 1966, the guerrilla force of Tan Hiep commune defeated a unit of US military on their way passing by Ho Lang base. In the fight, our force had eliminated and injured various enemies. Two months later at the place, local guerrilla force continued to clear a raid of US Army and eliminated 10 with many guns and ammos collected.

Holding the major position, in 1971-1975, Ho Lang Base was selected by Di An district Party Committee as their base. Key officers of Sau Trang and Chin Hoa were at the site to direct the revolutionary movements of neighboring communes. By the beginning of 1971, Vu Manh Hoi used handmade explosives to eliminate a raid unit of the enemy.

Contribution to education of revolutionary tradition

Ho Lang base was an evidence of people’s war by the people’s hearts, determination and creativity, local revolutionary forces had bravely fought against the enemies and established glory of the people’s liberation cause.

In stories of revolutionary veterans, the resistance war against US Army eyed various raids aiming to eradicate Ho Lang Base; however, the woods coverage and determination of local people helped Ho Lang stay and become a part of the glorious victory of 1975 spring. The scattered households helped Ho Lang base become a firm back for revolutionists by liaison and supply of foods and medicines.

By its historical values, Provincial People’s Committee in 2004 decided to approve Ho Lang base as a provincial revolutionary history. For the past time, Di An city and Tan Binh ward had operations to educate revolutionary tradition of people strata near the site.

In July 2015, Di An city inaugurated the constructions of Ho Lang Ecology Resort covering 31.68 hectares. The site of revolutionary base and ecology resort holds the great value of preserving, renovating and maintaining the scenery along with eco-tourism development in the locality. On completion, the place shall become a place to educate people of revolutionary tradition, patriotism, determined will of the people, officers, members, and local people.
