"Hotel" for homeless people
In the past, convenient rooms were used for hotel business but after that they are changed into Ngoc Quy Social Sponsor Center. And, the empty land lot next to the hotel is used for building a temple. Going along a road filled with shadow of trees, we arrive at Ngoc Quy Social Sponsor Center and silently admire heart of the owner of this hotel of yore. Nguyen Van Suc, 69, and his wife Ngoc Quy - the owners of this "hotel" said "I was used to be an orphan. When I was a child, I lived on temples' meals, so I profoundly sympathy with orphans, homeless elderly people. Therefore, when the hotel was under inefficient business, my wife volunteered to turn this hotel into a social sponsor center and have nun Chon Ngu managed this center. We did a significant deed in our life". Mrs. Ngoc Quy sent a letter to Hiep An ward People's Committee with a request of turning her hotel into social sponsor center for homeless people and orphans. Nun Chon Ngu from the Northern province of Phu Yen pursuing her Buddhism study in Hue Lam temple in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province is invited to manage the newly-built temple near the hotel.Chon Ngu said that Ngoc Quy and her husband often visit the center's unlucky people and grant gifts to them as well as urge relatives and friends to make charity visits to the center.And helped peopleOn an area of over 2,000sqm and 43 rooms, Ngoc Quy social sponsor center has enough functional rooms such as medical room, hall room and dinning room. The center now homes to 8 orphans, 12 old and disabled people. Orphans herein are named Ngo Thien An, Ngo Thien Thanh, Ngo Thien Quoc and so on. These beautiful names are implied to pray a better life for them. Aside from Mr. and Mrs. Quy and Chon Ngu, there are 3 other volunteers to work here voluntarily. In a wide room with 2 beds, Nguyen Thi Hao, 76, from Phuoc Sang commune, Phu Giao district, said "I have house and children but my children are too poor to take care of me, so I have to live in the center". Meanhile, Le Thi Nam, 50, from the Mekong province of Can Tho, said "I have no relatives, so I want to live here".Talking about Ngoc Quy Social Sponsor Center, Huynh Thi Tuyet Loan, vice chairwoman of Hiep An ward People's Committee said that Nguyen Ngoc Quy was used to live in this ward after that she moved to HCMC for her business. Based on her wish, once her business goes on stability, she will do charity. This center is granted operational license and decision on setting up social sponsor center signed by Thu Dau Mot city people's committee chairman.
