Upholding results done in the local program on poverty reduction for the 2006-2010 period, the program needs synchronous measures to help poor households escape poverty sustainably.

In early 2011, Binh Duong started a new period of poverty reduction. In the past, Lai Uyen commune of Ben Cat district was an agricultural commune with the highest poverty rate in the district. In recent years, the commune has paid attention to implementing policies of social welfare, especially poverty reduction. As a result, the rate of local poor households has declined sharply.
In the first half of this year, Dau Tieng district’s Thanh An commune decreased 22 out of 82 poor households. Meanwhile, Phu Giao district’s Phuoc Vinh township declined 164 poor households, winning 9.28%.
Though work of poverty reduction has been paid attention, some needy families face difficulties of accommodation, unsecured income and loan payment.
