Hundreds of enterprises establish complimentary housing for employees

In addition to advancing the development of social housing in the province, over 200 enterprises are currently investing in the construction of free accommodation, offering stable housing for tens of thousands of workers. This strategy enables workers to reduce expenses and remain with the business for an extended period.

The company also serves as a home

For more than a decade, employees of Thien Nam Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (Di An City) have regarded the company as their home and their home as the company. Recognizing employees as a fundamental pillar and a crucial element in fostering sustainable business growth, the company's Board of Directors established a social housing area for workers directly on the factory premises approximately ten years ago.

Showa Gloves Vietnam Co., Ltd. offers a fully equipped dormitory, ensuring a comfortable living environment for its employees

The company's residential complex comprises 200 units, featuring one ground floor and four upper levels, equipped with comprehensive amenities including a canteen, playground, kindergarten, soccer field, and volleyball court, all designed to fulfill the living requirements of employees after work hours. Each unit averages 80 square meters and is furnished by the company with a television, refrigerator, and various essential household items suitable for families with one or two children. Single workers are accommodated in shared living arrangements across three houses. This housing complex has the capacity to house over 600 workers, with additional space consistently available.

Mr. Tran Minh Hai, Chairman of the Trade Union of Thien Nam Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, stated: “After residing here for an extended period, many employees of the company have managed to save enough to purchase their own homes externally, and some have even acquired vehicles for commuting. The company still possesses ample land; should there be a shortage of housing for workers, we have plans to further develop accommodations for them.”

Mr. Tran Minh Hai states that the housing area is constructed within the company premises, facilitating convenient travel and work for employees. Additionally, the company has established a canteen that offers goods at original prices for its workers. The canteen consistently provides essential items and operates daily from early morning until 5 PM, thereby enabling employees to save significantly.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang, an employee at the company from Thanh Hoa, stated, “My husband and I have been with the company for nearly a decade. The availability of a housing area has alleviated our need to pay external rent, and we are able to purchase goods at original prices daily, allowing our family to save over 25 million VND each month. As a result, we were able to acquire a house valued at nearly 2 billion VND.”

Long-term dedication to the enterprise

Recognizing workers as "valuable assets," numerous enterprises have established collective housing and dormitories, thereby fostering a strong connection between employees and the organization. Showa Gloves Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Thuan An City) exemplifies this initiative by constructing accommodations for its workforce. Since 2008, the company has developed dormitories that house approximately 200 workers, prioritizing female employees. The facilities offer comprehensive living necessities and include a recreational playground. Remarkably, workers incur no monthly expenses for their accommodation.

In addition to constructing residential properties, Thien Nam Investment and Development Joint Stock Company also develops recreational areas and provides complimentary drinking water for employees at production facilities.

Ms. Tran Thi Tuyet Hong, a resident of Binh Dinh and a worker in the dormitory for over nine years, remarked, “I feel very comfortable living here; the environment is clean and spacious. Each month, I manage to save some money to send back to my parents. If I lived outside, I would need to spend at least 1.5 million VND per month on rent, electricity, and water. The dormitory provides 24/7 security, ensuring a high level of safety and order. When a company takes good care of its employees, those employees tend to remain loyal to the company for an extended period.”

With a comprehensive development plan, Hung Thinh Gia Company Limited, located in An Lap Commune, Dau Tieng District, has designated land for the construction of over 90 worker accommodations. Each block of rooms is meticulously designed and constructed separately, with distinct areas allocated for the company's staff and workers, ensuring an orderly and respectful environment. Each room encompasses an area of 30m², featuring tiled floors, a mezzanine, a private toilet, and a kitchen for convenient cooking. Daily, staff members are present to maintain cleanliness by sweeping and collecting trash, while security personnel are on hand to uphold safety and order.

Constructed over a decade ago, the dormitory of Dat Hoa Plastic Company Limited in Ben Cat City, featuring approximately 100 rooms, has evolved into a communal residence for hundreds of workers. The facility boasts a spacious and airy environment, a playground for children, and ample green space. Residents enjoy complimentary accommodation, with only a nominal charge for electricity and water. Since its establishment, the dormitory has provided workers with stable housing and convenient transportation, resulting in a significant reduction in employee turnover. The evident concern of the company's Board of Directors for the well-being of their workforce has fostered enthusiasm among employees, who actively engage in initiatives promoting exemplary work and innovative practices that enhance productivity.

According to the Ben Cat Industrial Parks Trade Union, an increasing number of businesses have recently focused on improving accommodation for their workers. Mr. Truong Van Phi, Vice Chairman of the Ben Cat Industrial Parks Trade Union, reported that currently, 28 companies within the industrial parks have constructed free housing for employees, comprising a total of 4,426 rooms that offer stable lodging for over 5,000 workers. "When workers have secure accommodation, they tend to remain with the company for an extended period," stated Mr. Truong Van Phi.
