IBM Vietnam on August 7 presented the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) 20 sets of KidSmart (Young Explorer) educational programme worth of VND1.8 billion.

The presents will be handed over to 11 social support centres in five Central Highland provinces of Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Kon Tum and Lam Dong, which house many disadvantaged children.
Each KidSmart set consists of an IBM personal computer with its EDMARK educational software to help children think critically, stimulate creativity, and make a decision, as well as providing them basic problem-solving skills and case studies.
The programme is expected to have a positive impact on the learning and integrating process of children being brought up at these centres.
The KidSmart educational sponsor programme has been jointly implemented by the NFVC and IBM Vietnam since 2010.
It aims to offer disadvantaged children a good start for their future education and improve the use of cutting-edge technology as a learning tool.
So far, about 3,600 children from 16 cities and provinces across the country have benefited from the programme.
This year IBM Vietnam plans to donate 30 more sets of KidSmart, valued at around VND2.2 billion, to children through the Ministry of Education and Training.
