If not improving environmental pollution, T-K Vina Co.Ltd. will be petitioned for withdrawing business license

Through Binh Duong Newspaper’s hot line, some households in Thuong Tan commune’s hamlet 3 in North Tan Uyen district have reflected air and water pollution caused by T-K Vina Co.Ltd. Binh Duong Newspaper made a fact-finding trip about this case.

Water pollution improved

Being granted business license in 2006 with around 60 workers, the wholly South Korean-invested T-K Vina Co.Ltd. is specialized in manufacturing various fabric, industrial threads, belts…

Trees in front of Tran Thi Nhi’s house are covered by black smoke and dust from T-K Vina Co.Ltd.

According to locals’ reflection, the company over time constantly discharged waste water into a 500m-long irrigation canal in front of its entrance, affecting locals’ health and production. This was completely true, Nguyen Tan Phat, a staff who is in charge of land and environment in Thuong Tan commune affirmed.

He added that the company was penalized many times for the above infringement over the past years. Noticeably, provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment last year imposed a fine of VND326mln on the company because its pollution level on waste water was much higher than the permitted level.

After the above penalty, the company also made efforts in improving water pollution from it by many forms. According to a recent survey, water pollution caused by the company has basically improved…

Air pollution is remaining

Although water pollution caused by T-K Vina Co.Ldt has been improved, locals have still worried about air pollution from the company.

During the fact-finding trip, Binh Duong Newspaper’s correspondent witnessed columns of blacks and dust from the company’s factory. Tran Thi Nhi, a resident whose house is opposite to the company also fretted so much about the air pollution that has affected her family’s health and daily life.

Nguyen Minh Can, Chairman of Thuong Tan communal People’s Committee said that air pollution from the company has not been improved yet. The commune will continue working with the company about this problem. The commune’s People’s Committee will petition higher authorities to impose a fine that is double compared to 2014’s level on the company or even withdraw its business license if environmental pollution from it has not been improved yet…
