Pham Hong Cong's lodging house located in quarter 5 of Hiep Thanh ward is built with a spacious and clean two floors. Lodging rooms are always full of tenants. In particular, the relationship between the landlord and tenants is always close and intimate, they consider each other as brothers.
In the evening, after eating, Nguyen Thi Tien and her husband held their child and sat in the cool air in front of the lodging room door. Living here since 2020, Ms. Tien and her husband said that only when they can afford to buy land to build a house will they move, otherwise they will still choose this lodging house to stay. Sharing about the kindness of the landlord, Ms. Tien said that Mr. Cong and his wife were not only friendly, but also cared about the tenants, such as reducing room rent for tenants during the recent Covid-19 pandemic. Every year, on Lunar New Year, his family also reduces room fees, gives gifts, and organizes a year-end party for the tenants. “Mr. Cong and his wife are very friendly and kind. If his family need a hand, they call us over and vice versa. There is no distance between us, we are as close as brothers in the same family," Ms. Tien said.
The affection, friendliness and warmth of the landlord have created a more comfortable and close-knit living space for the lodgers here. These things have contributed to making this lodging house more civilized, safe and orderly. Mr. Cong's lodging house is one of the typical cultural lodging houses that have been commended by the city for three consecutive years (2020-2023). This is also the lodging house chosen by the ward’s administration to implement the "Compassionate Lodging House" program that supports free accommodation for poor patients. Although a rented room costs from 1.8 to 2.3 million VND/month (depending on room size), Mr. Cong is willing to leave a room empty for patients who come for treatment at a nearby medical facility and need assistance with accommodation, he immediately opens its door to receive them.
Typical examples like Mr. Cong's lodging house have actively contributed to the movement to build cultural lodging houses in Thu Dau Mot City in recent years. In 2023 alone, the rate of cultural lodging house in the city reached 99.94% (1,770/1,771 registered lodging houses). In addition to the movement to build cultural boarding houses, the results of building other cultural titles in the city in the past year continued to be maintained, and some movement contents increased significantly. Namely, the rate of cultural families reached 99.27% (52,615/53,004 registered families), the rate of cultural neighborhoods reached 100% (118/118 neighborhoods); The rate of "Cultural agencies and units" reached 96.1% (219/228 registered agencies, units and businesses)...

In 2023, Thu Dau Mot City attained positive results in the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life". However, according to the assessment of the city's Steering Committee for this movement, the movement has limitations and shortcomings that need to be overcome, such as the cooperation between the government and departments, branches, and organizations at grassroots level in some places and sometimes not regularly; The quality of the movement is sometimes still formal; Some localities and units have not integrated the movement into the implementation of their political tasks; Although environmental sanitation in boarding houses and public places has been implemented more times than in 2022, there are a few places that have not done well; there is no specific plan to help households to overcome shortcomings, so the quality is not really solid...
