Morning June 9th, PPC held a meeting to summarize natural disasters prevention and control in 2014, and disseminate orientations, tasks in 2015. Mr. Tran Van Nam, Chairman of PPC, presided over the conference.
In 2014, some natural disasters, like: surge, tornadoes, river erosion…, occurred in the province and affected people’s life. Total damaged property was over VND15 billion. Therefore, the steering committee mobilized forces to inspect actual situations, coordinated with localities to overcome consequences of damage. In 2015, provincial steering committee of natural disasters prevention and control put forward specific plans, directions for dealing with natural disasters. Among them, the steering committee had plans to reserve food, medicine… with a total value of more than VND123 billion.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Tran Van Nam emphasized, some imperative works need to be performed well were dissemination, propaganda, raising people’s awareness of bad situations prevention; reviewing and updating dangerous areas, flooded areas, damaged drainage, dykes for timely repairs; utilize capacity of reservoirs, dams; planning for disasters; simultaneously, frequent updating weather changes to have effective, timely solutions to minimize consequences of damage.
